Clean out intercooler and inlet manifold

what size wheels / tyres you running ? apart from that not much else

Most of them just seem to hate inclines on fast roads
 
well whets the latest that happened??

with my discovery edc it also seems to miss when under load especially when towing up hills.
I have done all the usual things like new fuel filter and checked and cleaned the sedamenter as well, even fitted a new lift pump but still the same.as regards the EVRY mod holding circuit, im well interested and want to find out more about it before I make one up myself.

Get rid of the cheap chip. And fettle with the injector pump instead. Cheaper and gives a better boost in performance all over rev range if you do it properly.
 
all you can do is ajust the pump timing, any other ajustments you make will be re ajusted by the ecu to keep things in its set parameters.
this is the joy of running a 300tdi with edc , ordinary tdi, tweek pump and off you go but not a edc .
 
Hi guys, sorry to dig up such an old post but I still own a '96 Disco 1 300Tdi and would like to do the mod.
However the circuit diagram was lost to the ages, do any of you still have it to re-post it?
Also, is this still worthy of doing, or have better ways been found in the meanwhile?

Just read this old thread through, more or less and find it a bit surprising no one suggested fitting a sports exhaust. I used mine for long distance towing a huge box trailer with the aerodynamics of a brick. Putting the sports exhaust, from a propah LR garage, made pick-up and general running much better and kept mpg the same or better. I also de-egred it and fitted silicon hoses to the air intake system. Next step would be to improve the intercooler. Mine is a manual but I cannot see this doing any harm to an auto.

Late 300 autos are EDC, EDC auto with a plug in chip will decimate a std td5 power wise.

Maybe, I only have a manual 300tdi and a standard TD5 auto. The TD5 is a more powerful engine anyway so I spec you is right. I just don't like autos and have had so many more problems with the TD5 than I ever had with the 300tdi. so I is probly prejudiced!;)

I bought a td5 to replace my tuned edc tdi, that was a culture shock, bloody thing had no power!

Not sure what make plug in box I had on my 97 300 edc? I did replace it in the end with a proper chip tune and larger cooler, which certainly did not give value for money power wise over the plug in chip box.

This was many years ago, the box was the size of a small fag packet and cost 400 quid! the tune and cooler was 800 quid.

Bet if you sniff around ebay a 2nd hand unit will pop up.
