Hi my name is Andy and i live just south of Birmingham, retirement has finally rolled round and i find myself with time on my hands, over the years ive had a fair few range rovers landrovers and the like, the last project was a ground up biuld of a 90 into which i put a 300 tdi but that was probably 15 years ago and long since sold, now as i get older i fancy an auto so ive bought an engine and box out of a disco 1 300tdi with an auto box and there the surprise started its not just one wire to the injector pump as it was on my old manual 90,
this engine came with a sacksful of wiring ecu's and stuff i dont recognize, can anyone explain to me what the set up is, why theres an ecu how it works and what i need to use to get it to run, i assume the pedal is fly by wire, are there any wiring diagrams anywhere that might show how the pump, ecu, pedal and probably immobilizer are connected to each other, i would like to get this running on a stand before it gets installed
thanks Andy

Welcome
If you were into landies there is a few independent garages in your area who may help.
You will need some wiring diagrams & a lot of time to sort this out

good luck (if in doubt have a few beers down the washford)

some auto's were controlled by 'EDC' (Electronic Diesel Control?) a flybywire throttle with ecu & more power - also fettlable;)

you can swap the edc injector-pump for a conventional 'mecanical throttle' pump if wanted:)

Rich.

Welcome:).

As above need wiring diagrams and a bucket of coffee.
If you popped over to the discovery section and asked, somebody would probably come up with some help, for the bare minimum to run as a test.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing the project:).
