3" Lift Question

Hello all,
Just wondering what i would need to do to my discovery to fit a 3" lift kit?

I know i need the extended brake hoses, but i dont know about anything else?

i test driv a 3" lifted disco the other day, but didnt buy it, but it felt and looked amazing

shocks and springs? for your year of discovery normally helps :)

why do you need extended brake hoses? Im fitting a 2" lift to mine at the weekend I havnt been advised to get longer brake hoses
 
3" will need crankes radius arms aswell, you will need brake lines with 3", 2" is advisible is on full articulation the lines will pull on the inner wing.
 
I've had a 4" lift on mine for 2 years now and not yet fitted cranked arms on the front and only just fitted rear ones.

Got extended brake lines fitted.

Front prop caused a few problems so fitted a td5 prop and that is basically all I have done.

i like advisible, this is something i can do when i get a little more money! need to sort the diff out first! might leave the lift of for a bit then!
 
just go for 2 inch snow, its yer diffs that need lifting and a detachable tow ball and loose your front valance to give you good approach angles.
2" lift will set yer back 200 quid give or take and ill direct you where to get it, then bigger tyres.

Yea orderin up diff protectors, by sortin my diff out i mean gettin the thing to lock... ive got no valance on the front any more. . took it all off but i want a new whinch bumper at some point... ive just got some BFG mud terrain tyres...tow ball is comin off. i dont need it and it kept gettin me stuck the other day :(
 
regarding lift kit, contact foundry 4x4 and tell steve craig sent you. he can put together some good packages to suit your needs.

On the rear the original prop will surfise but on the front the uj's cant take the angles of lift and eventually wear out.

The solution is either 30 degree increased angle prop which arent cheap or do as I did and fit a TD5 front prop, they are double cardon jointed and solve the problem.

Because of all the extra cost i may just go with the 2", i just wanted to get it as high as i could, but dont wanna spend LOADS on it, compared with £230 for a full 2" lift

Still want to put 85 profile tyres on it too,

True I've a 4 inch lift and the UJ wear out like mad, reckon its best to carry a spare prop, plus it puts extra pressure on the transfer box bearing.

You'll find over 50 it get a wobblely on bendy roads;)

Never had a problem with wobble and since fitting the td5 prop never had a uj problem.

RAZ: you will need a TD5 drive flange at the transferbox end bolts straight on as a replacement.

Paid £80 for a secondhand prop and the flange is a further £40 from LR dealer.

A modified prop = £200 approx

A new TD5 prop = 250 approx
