Bought a 2008 Range Rover L322 recently and replaced the Instrument Cluster as the Pixel readouts were poor with a used Breakers yard Instrument Cluster with the exact same part numbers and after confirming with the Breakers yard that it had less than the 151000 miles on the original and he knew of no problems with the car not starting.

With this info and the number of Instrument Clusters being sold on line I went ahead and fitted this used Instrument Cluster, the milage stayed the same (151000) and all instruments had movement with car lights, information screen radio etc working, but car would not start.

There is now a Tamper Dot above the milage readout I now understand shows that the Instrument Cluster and Car VIN number do not match and could be the reason the car will not work.

I have the exact same problem now when I refit the existing Instrument Cluster.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

@dubdublin Hello and welcome:)
first thing please edit out your post code somewhere close is good to go
second the replacement clocks will need programming to the car, the clocks store the mileage as well as the becm and will revert to the higher one, good job it was not a higher one, my p38 gained 30k like that:(
the pixels i believe is an easy fix with a kit online, but you will probably need diag to sort your motor atm
other will know more than me.

the early ones the immobiliser talks to the instrument cluster to check key matches
thats why on ebay they sell ecu , instrument cluster and ignition key as a package
