So went to take Landy for its MOT on Saturday and as I was driving had a lot of juddering coming from the back axle, only when letting off on the power and or starting to brake. Initial thoughts were the handbrake drum sticking so took the drum to bits checked and all looks clean, I then removed rear prop and spun the drum testing the handbrake and works perfectly.

So then I thought it was the propshaft so I removed it again it's the original from N/A engine days checked the uj's and there all fine. When I bought the v8 he gave me a v8 prop so I put that on tested it up the road and this made a slight difference giving less vibration?

Now I'm really confused what it is and can't work it out anyone got any ideas guys?

Just thinking more on the subject would a wide angle prop solve the problem as the v8 gearbox sits a bit higher than what the old 4 pot did?

Does anybody know of an auto electrician or someone familiar with Landy electrics it's all been hashed over the years and I need it sorting.

bottom picture top prop is phased as a front should be ,bottom prop phased as rear should be ,v8 props are the same as 4 cylinder props length varies depending on where gear box sits ie v8 and 300 tdi on are slightly longer than 200 tdi and previous , have you felt diff pinion ,tried slacking hand brake adjuster ,driving with rear prop off in diff lock, ie often buy a good used loom from landy breakers try 01673863322

Ok guys it's been quite a while since I posted on this thread and have made quite a change since. Since the last posts I have done the following into get the v8 running:
New ecu
Whole new loom in the 90
New engine mounts welded higher
New viscous (fixed so always spinning)
New maf
New battery box
New temp sender and gauge
New water pump
New oil cooler

And many many more bits I can't remember but now the v8 runs perfectly without fail and starts on the button every time. It's now trying to get the off road bits bought and fitted.

Overall I'm pretty happy and if anyone needs any help if they are doing this conversion please let me know.

Yea a £300 wide angle prop sorted straight away, where new gearbox was higher meant the uj's were constantly locked against each other.

Only thing I could do with is a 90 v8 seat box as none of the tunnel etc meets up with anything!

Well done quite a lot more since the last post on here which was a long time ago. Im after info on an "idle up switch".
Rick from RAC parts had it on his 110 3.9 v8 but i don't know how he did it and this would be perfect when winching. Can anyone offer any advice on this?
Got another engine to go in as the current has taken a hammering over the last year so gonna make the swap and rebuild the existing engine.

Can anyone suggest items that are worth doing i.e competition head gaskets, performance cams?
