110 rear UJ failure.

Just been out in the landy, long story short a UJ has failed on the rear proshaft. I'm about to take the propshaft off, but as this is our main car and a daily driver I'm intending to engage the difflock and run FWD until I replace the UJ. It'll only be local and for a day or too, am I risking damaging the centre diff?

I should be ok just take your time and be gentle with the throttle and when your pulling off

It'll be ok if yer not doint monster miles. Wont be great to drive though

It'll be down on power too. So no more traffic kight drag races like wen ya broke the rear uj

why diff lock?

Without difflock all the power will just be spun away through the rear output.

Just been for a drive, not too bad actually, fair bit of torque steer though even when just 'kissing' the throttle lol.

On closer inspection the propshaft is fooked too, the UJ has broken through the side of one of the yokes. Found this one:

my old 1 must of been stuck in lock then cos it drove with just the front prop

it did rattle a bit but it was like that for years...

your head or your transfer box?

Just a quick update for anyone interested, I bought the cheapo one from Paddocks, it's actually manufactured by 'Bailey Morris'. Quality seems pretty good, the yokes are actually a bit chunkier and more substantial than the original one that I removed. There's no boot over the telescopic joint like on the original though.

Oh, and it was horrible to drive with no rear propshaft

I drove mine for approx a week with no rear prop, not through choice unfortunately, but it was fine and i didnt notice anything particularly bad about the way it drives. I did take it slow and easy of course and it hasnt caused any damage

I have a bit of slack/backlash at the front and found that it was exaggerated and much more noticeable without the rear prop.

yep, i have the same thing, not a nice drive with no rear prop.
