Some may remember mythread about my handbrake sticking on after a long stop. Conclusion was jammed linkage or something else, I knew it was oiled anyway.
Pulled prop off, flange bolt was loose on box output shaft and was flapping about a bit
Drum off and the reason the shoes were sticking was that the oil was mixed with muck and had turned to treacle! It was like tar in there. Washed it all out, fitted a new oil seal and felt washer with a new nut, tightened it up this time
I didnt fit new shoes this time as I want to make sure the oil leak is fixed so instead I washed them down well with solvent and put it all back together.
See how it works tomorrow, certainly won't be any worse than it was.
