Td5 engine nock and oil level very high!

So, having re-done my injector seals, and covered about 200 miles, the sump is already filling up, so I guess its time for a new head. Anyone heard of this guy on 'bay doing head repairs. Obviously far cheaper option to Turner Engineering, but might be worth a shot. LAND ROVER TD5...

Td5 engine nock and oil level very high!

well, I've just pulled out my injectors and I can't see any sign of combustion gases blowing past the copper washers (on either side). Guess I'll put it back together for now and monitor the oil level closely.

If that's correct, we should ask Ratty to add it to his 'How to' on injector seals.

Td5 engine nock and oil level very high!

I've decided I'm going to do the injector seals again. No I didn't re-tighten the clamp bolts (didn't know about it). Do you think that would cause the o-ring to fail then?

I might do, mines a later type. Have you changed a td5 head before? I image its fairly straightforward.

Td5 engine nock and oil level very high!

AH FECK - got diesel in my oil too ! :( I did the injector seals (meticulously) about 4,000 miles ago (had some starting problems), and the level has gone up by 3 to 4 litres in that mileage. I suspect that have a cracked head, but is there anyway of checking this before I shell out for a...

Where have you been in your Land Rover today?

Been down to New Milton to collect a bale sledge. 'Twas a bit wide, so thought an orange beacon might be a good idea - The snork is the only thing that the mag mount will stick to. Pesky aluminium roof panel

    90 stolen from dorset

I only got a passing view of it. TBH it didn't look like the OP's vehicle. But unusual to see an abandoned 90. Looked like a fairly tidy motor with Hard Top. Possibly a Tdi made to look like a TD5. I just hope it finds its proper owner before the vandals / theives do.

    90 stolen from dorset

Just seen a abandoned green 90 with snorkle, td5 badges, and Police aware sticker on the roundabout where A350 Poole road meets A31 - this is only five minutes from Blandford.

    Leaky Injector seals

Sounds like, you should monitor the oil level very carefully for now. Be sure to be parked on level ground to get an accurate reading. You might want to read this fine article... I followed it and my only suggestions to add, would be that you don't need a slide hammer to get the injectors...

    TD5 Low fuel pressure

What's a bus? ;) All sorted now :D:D , IMO the injector seals were allowing combustion gases into the diesel, giving starting problems and probably lead to the death of the fuel pump. The low pressure readings were down to fitting the gauge in the wrong part of the circuit
