Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of advice please;

I have been planning an oil and filter change on my recently acquired 2000MY TD5 and I had a quick look at the dipstick today and I am sure the oil level is now higher than when I last looked. Can't say I can really smell diesel when I sniff the oil but am now worried that if the injector seals are leaking I will be damaging the engine by using it. Is there any other way to tell if I have a leak other than to carry on driving and see if the oil level changes?
Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Sounds like, you should monitor the oil level very carefully for now. Be sure to be parked on level ground to get an accurate reading.

You might want to read this fine article...

I followed it and my only suggestions to add, would be that you don't need a slide hammer to get the injectors out, but a small pry bar with a little care is fine. Also get yourself a viscous fan spanner.

OK will monitor the situation but don't want to do the oil change and then find it getting contaminated and have do it all over again once the problem is fixed. The oil is black it needs doing.

Spoke to a Landrover specialist workshop today and was told that the amount my oil has risen so far is nothing much so I should change the oil and monitor the situation. Phew!
