    should i paint or not

Keep it original. If thats the original paint, then its looking pretty good as it is. Mine was that colour but its now very worn :(

    Tyres any good.

Are they for the Dakars? They are ok for the road. I haven't noticed any series noise at speed. I have 205/80s on my series. I haven't used them off road yet. I think the special tracks and the saharas will be a bit loud for every day use. Special tracks will certainly be loud on the road.

    Land Rover Series Audio

I think you will have to go for a pukka din fit stereo with a pair of speakers in the rear of the tub somehwere. You can get a pod that installs on the passenger sids of the lower dash or just to the right of the steering column. If you do a search, there is a thread on here where someone...

How do you dispose of old coolant?

To be honest I either dump it in my old oil container or I pour it down the storm drain outside my driveway :)

    Land Rover Defenders in Skyfall

There is a pic online somewhere where they show the Skyfall Defender modded for fast road work. Dropped by 4 inches Running a widened track on road aklloy and track tyres Remote controls to the roof which is where the driver sits in a cage (The Stig!) Found one of the pics!

    Not Serious About Series

I am planning on keeping mine as standard as possible, but I admit that I would like to make it a bit easier to live with and I'll probably fit a RR or a Disco diff at some point. I certainly don't agree with people slapping a Defender front end on a series! I love the look of the front end...

    Land Rover as first car?

Cheap to run? I don't think so. 30mpg for the diesel and £220 to tax a year. I think a 94 disco will creep into a classic policy. Why don't you call an insurance company!?! Try Lancaster ot Adrian Flux. At least you should be able to service a disco your self, but as someone else has...

    HELP PLEASE!!! my first landy

I was told it was a standard 'out of the factory' feature ;) They also leak water from the roof and various other areas too :)

    Classic looking off road tyres

If you are looking at modern tyres, then the modern fitment is the 235/85s which is what they fit to the Defenders out of the factory. These look quite big on a series. Worth looking at 205/80s, which is what I have just fitted to my series and they look alright, but still not tall enough...

Help mounting towbar anyone got a picture

Indeed. Mine was a home made effort made out of some 7mm steel plate and it does the job very nicely. Its got a cut out for the flange that fits the crossmemeber to the body. My spreader plate was missing from the kit, so I made one myself out of a single bit of 5mm steel plate. I would have...

cock and blast ! lever slipping out of high ratio

Calm down. Yes, go and buying another F*CKING series 3 as you politely put it, but you may find that Landy also has a fooked Gearbox. Its not an uncommon problem. You could always re-build the gearbox your self. There are a few guides online and its in the manuals.

cock and blast ! lever slipping out of high ratio

What gears does it slip out of? Some people drive them for years like that. I'm only planning on replacing mine when it jumps out of 1st and second. Because at that point it becomes a bit tricky to use off road if faced with a very steep slope. You can have a look at the spring thing...

Considering a Saab 9-3 Sport Hatch

Right, I actually have one as a daily driver!! Mine is a 2005 Saab 93 Vector 93 TID 150 Mine is currently on 146k and has had a few issues. Alternator (common issue and fair;ly cheap to replace) Intercooler (bottom part started to split. Also quite common) Wiper Motor (quite cheap to...

    Expedition Roof Racks.

There is a chap on Ebay who flgs new ones for £240 +P&P and they are galvanised and they look pretty good. Someone posted a thread up on building one and by my maths the materials alon were £300-£350 which is what they cost new!! and you can get used ones on Ebay for £100 or less. The home...

    2006 Discovery engine failure

Don't they have two belts (front and back) and they have to be changed at different times? I think one is a body off job. Engine failure could be caused by many different things. Oil starvation?

Wolf Rims fresh out of the oven!

I did mine recently. I painted mine by hand and it was a bit of nightmare. Also, I used Halfords Laquer and the wheel nuts took the laquer and the top layers of paint right off :( They still look alright though :)

    Brake drum retaining screw

I have this job to do on mine as someone has clearly tried to remove the drums and ripped the head off the screw and now there is nothing there for me to unscrew. Never drilled out a thread before!

    evoke overheating problems already

You could at least spell Evoque correctly! It wouldn't surprise me if that wasn't the only case of an unreliable Evoque.

Any one run more than one vehicle

I have two. I use my Saab 93 every day and the Landy is just there for bimbling about at weekends and lookig pretty in the driveway. However, at the moment, I have spent more money on fixing it compared to actually driving it :D Hoping to take the Landy off road soon though :)

    hmmm which one?!

Has the OP done any research at all!?! The truck name doesn't bother me too much. Anyways. £3k will buy you a nice TD5V8 Disco 2 or an alright Defender 90 200tdi A P38 will also be in your budget too, but out of the three mentioned I'd go for a Disco2. You don't need to go too...
