Disco II + front door central locking

Hiya all! :p I have just got my 2000 DII V8 thru compliance and all is well but the fron doors will not work with the central locking. The driver's door key will lock the rear 3 doors (along with the driver's door) but not the front left door. The switch on the dash only operates the 3 rear...

    300tdi miles per gallon

Hmm, Must be the quality of the diesel, as 28 is the best I have ever got being easy on the loud pedal. All 4 of my EDC 300s have been the same.

    300tdi miles per gallon

:) Howdy! If it is a 300 auto with EDC then 26mpg not towing would be good. 23 towing is about average:o

Advice sought on tyres for a Disco Tdi 300

Howdy from NZ! Sounds like a good deal to me! As for fashionble - bollocks to that! I use Pirelli Scorpion ATs here on mine. Not fashionable either but they last 50000km on our rough roads and old fashioned tar + chip seal. You havd a good tyre.

    Bad Vibrations

Howdy, Hmm, well wheel ballance wed arvo if I can. Do y'all reckon the spigot bush should be changed with the donut? This is the bush inside the rear shaft that the spigot sticking out of the diff goes into?

    Bad Vibrations

Hi all, Today's information: ANOTHER NEW donut - The old 1 had torn! Ballanced both driveshafts - they were both out but by less than 1oz. All this has made a difference - quite markedly. Smooth now - EXCEPT fot the 55km/h point. I'm beginning to think now we have a bush issue, maybe the...

    Bad Vibrations

OK all! Here's the latest! I MADE them change the front output bearing today. It has made an 80-90% difference!!!! BUT, the vibration is just still there at the same speed but only just. Now, i'm going to have the driveshaft ballanced tomorrow to see if that is the problem and if it ain't...

    Bad Vibrations

Howdy all, Something to ponder..... I have a harsh vibration under medium to hard acceleration at 55km/h (31MPH) and it comes in again at 100Km/h (62MPH). SO far we have tried this to no avail: Remove rear prop shaft - problem stays Remove front shaft - problem gone Install brand new front shaft...

    factory amp??????????

Howdy, Ya don't have to but it aint very powerfull and you have to make up leads to go onto the harness at the radio end. It is Quick and usualy better quality just to bypass it. Use decent cable to go down to the amp from the stereo. For memory 8metres will be more than enough as you need 4...

    factory amp??????????

Hi Yep. The 1 on the sub bin on the rear door is JUST for the sub!!. My advice is to bypass the LR amp and cable directly to the speaker wires as they come out of the amp. Pull the glove box out and it is quite easy. I've done 3 of them now!! Oliver

    factory amp??????????

    Newbie in for a Discovery

Ah, See that's the thing!! The Japanese on the whole are good at servicing and usually thru dealers too. I should know - my brother imports VW and Audi stuff ex Japan for a living and I am on my 5th Disco ex Japan. The parts thing is NOT an issue at all anywhere as the only real difference is...

    diagnostic interface?

HI all, The S1 Discos are old school and seem to need fancy readers to read them. SIIs are newer tech and loads of readers can get into them. My 10c worth

    disco 300 sub

I have an 'S' model without the sub.:( Does anyone know if all the Discos had the wiring for them and the mounting nuts in the rear door anyhow? (I don't want to take the panel off just to check as MOST of the clips break when you do!!) Thanks!

Michelin tyres XPC / Synchrone / Latitude

Stick with the Michelins. I have and I know they aint cheap but they seem to be the best on heavy trucks with demanding suspension like Land Rovers etc. The Jap tires don't last here in NZ. Our roads are too tough.

    Alternative handbrake?

Aloha all! They try and test the park brake (as LR call it - yes there is a difference..) at our 6 monthly warrant of fitness. I tell them in no uncertain terms that they can't pull it on while moving (on the rolling road). I allways get "how can I test it then? We have to put a reading...
