Hi guys, I know it must seem obvious to all that I should have put this in the tyres section, but really I wanted to ensure I got a Landy Disco perspective on the replies, so here goes:

In the near future I will need a new set of tyres, current ones are Wranglers, 235/70/16.

Because I'll be buying a set   I want to get this as right as possble.

I'm looking for good value, long duration and good grip with quietness. I'm 90% on-road, with a bit of green-laning, hardly any mud.

Tyres that have caught my eye are: General Grabber UHP & AT, Kumho KL12, KL51. I hope that paints a picture.

All advice and comments welcome as this is likely to be a big spend for me:confused:

why dont you contact yella and ask him about kumhos !!!!!!!
im sure he will enlighten you .........
ive just have just changed my set of tyres from boring road tyres to 60/40 they are cooper discoverers st,s same size as yours have posted a fred on here and nobody seems to use them so guess time will tell have a look at tyrespec.co.uk they do produce a little road noise but not much , they seem to hold the road well and are pretty good off road aswell

Thanks for that Robin, Coopers are another on my list - trouble is the list's is a bit too long and being in France I have to look at what is available over here as well.

Ho hum, right, I've got my flameproof overalls on, so I'm going in.............................................................................................

"Yella, Yella, What do you think of Kumho tyres?" (ducks, hides behind rock, pulls on asbestos blanket!!!)

try 'allo pneus' they're pretty cheap and do free delivery

Hi slob, yes I've tried them already and they look good. The problem is that today I spoke to a few people in the local town about fitting them and how much it would cost: estimates varied from 15€ (great) to 35€ (ouch!), per wheel.

So even though I like the look of mail order prices, when I add in the fitting and balancing there's not much of a saving at all.

They're just going to be a big bill and I'll just have to come to terms with it.

Thanks for all your input guys - I ordered my tyres last night.

A bargain cropped up that I just couldn't miss, having small pockets and all, so here goes:

4 tyres, Continental Conti 4x4 Contact, tax inc, £189 delivered to my tyre fitter, who will charge £55 for fitting including new valves and balancing.

So, a shiny new set of tyres fitted for a total of £244 !! I couldn't resist.

Yes I know, they're not the most fashionable 4x4 tyre but......................

I would like, when I can afford it, to have another set of wheels and tyres, but for now I'm well chuft.

Thanks again

Dave

Howdy from NZ!

Sounds like a good deal to me! As for fashionble - bollocks to that! I use Pirelli Scorpion ATs here on mine. Not fashionable either but they last 50000km on our rough roads and old fashioned tar + chip seal. You havd a good tyre.
