    whats your day being like

Been doing some painting on a project i'm doing. Just finished painting (outside) & it bloody rained. Only just enough to ruin the paint. Thats the second time it's done that, the first time it was coming out of a blue sky.Hope the neighbours weren't listening to the language.

    E.P additives in gear oil

Due to my stationary engine activities i recently found out that E.P. (extreme pressure) additives in gear oil attack & can destroy bronze gears. Now i've never pulled down a land rover (series) transmission so i dont know if there's bronze living in there. Can anyone advise me ? Would that also...

How much for a grille ?

I was at a classic rally (with my stationary engine) recently & one of the blokes who sells bits has a metal landrover radiator grille. Question --How much do they sell for in o.k. condition? He's asking £50 for his which to me seems a BIT dear. He's had it for a few rallies now so i think it's...

and early Series 2s MOT exempt

I'm told by my MOT tester that you can still have an MOT if you want, on pre 60s vehicals. It's the insurance thing that worries me. Would you insure an old car with no MOT & no way of knowing the condition. My series 2 is post 60 so no problem for me. (yet):(

    Swivel hub housing What lube?

It's along time since i worked on landrovers. In those days we put gear oil in the swivel housing. I've been looking at another thread about this subject & i wonder if the grease in sachets is suitable for a series 2. Or should i use a semi fluid gease such as glygoyl (Mobil if i remember...

and early Series 2s MOT exempt

I'm not so sure about that. The lower element just won't bother to keep their vehicles up to scratch. After a few people have been killed by morons driving dangerous wrecks, just maybe the tax exempt, MOT exempt vehicles could be legislated off the road. I'm sure the car manufacturers would push...

Hi there guys. Just bought a series 2 swb from my son. Real nice one too.I've owned a series 3 109 in the past for quite a few years & i reckon i must have been missing the comforts of a landrover.(all that cold in the winter & cold running water when it rains. Not to mention the freezing shower...
