hi mate i have had the same problem i have found that some big phone arials near buy does the same thing, i have to unlock with the key and go though the door code lock to get the car to start just dont park in the same place if you can

i have checked the battery but i have since found a blown fuse one of the big 30 amp fuse under the bonnet this seems to be stopping the car from starting and keeps blowing

tryed the key code in the door everything is working fine , no error messages showen up

i have a 1996 p38 got up this morning and tryed to start it the dash lights up but wont turn over with the key no error messages are showing on the dash everything seems ok fuses ect just dead any ideas??

i had a problem that started lke this that ended up being the compressor seal which i changed my self after getting the parts of ebay, not a hard job, it might not be the problem but mine was playing up like this efore it stopped working.

i have a 1996 p38 4.6 HSE and i have the range rover sat nav and dash , can anyone tell me how hard it is to fit?? has anyone done it ? also are the wires already in the car ? :confused:

Collected the piston seal today and fitted it to my compressor, this seems to have done the trick , many thanks for all the help people gave its not a hard job todo and much cheaper than buying a new compressor,

Thanks for that let me know how you get on i spoke to mm4x4 in worcestershire yesterday they told me that it might just need the memory clearing for a cost of £20 , i'll think once i have changed the seal i'll give that ago.

does anyone know of anywhere that sells spray paint in cans with the colours for a 1996 range rover ? i have been to halfords they mix there own spray paints but dont have any land rover colours???:cool:
