    Do i buy a td5 or a 4.0 v8 with lpg?

Having had a defender TD5 for a works vehicle & a V8 disco 2 for my own vehicle, i know which one I prefer. Test drove a TD5 disco before I got the V8, diesel had not a lot of go, not much more than the defender to be honest and the fuel consumption on Defender was horrific about 22-23 mpg...

Magnecor Blue Electrosports80 HT leads on a LPG V8

Leads & amp worked pretty well on my old 3.9 classic, got an extra 30 miles out of a tank of gas & the engine was more willing to rev due to the more advanced timing.....

    D2 V8 Throttle response

Throttle housing removed & inspected found to be clean, spindle seals look ok too. Replaced idle control valve too, little better but not much.Tested for manifold leaks by pinching up bypass hose & engine stalled immediatly so I think it's ok on that score. Seems about the same when warm or cold...

    ACE get you home fix??

Having had a few reads thru RAVE and reading of woes with burst pipes, fluid loss & possible pump seizure I'm curious if the following would get you home in the event of valve block-front/rear actuator pipe failure...? Unplug the connector to the pressure sensor on the valve block, the ECU...

    D2 V8 Throttle response

had a look this arvo & can't see one on the clutch, just the brake...... good thought though, my works Vauxhall van has one to limit revs with clutch depressed.....

    D2 V8 Throttle response

Have an irritating throttle response problem with my V8 (with manual box) that has is proving a little difficult to track down... Basically the engine hangs onto revs when changing gears , have gone through the obvious like sticking throttle and manifold vacuum leaks, response is the same on...

    odb 1 or odb2

Think you will find it's OBD2. But be warned a cheap 50 quid fault code reader won't really tell you all that much, just the bare minimum of engine codes related to emmissions.. To read all the systems on your Disco you would need a Nanocom (not much good for V8's though) Blackbox...

Testing Thermostat on a Disco 2

Presume you have replaced/flushed radiator and done a complete cooling system flush? The heater matrix can silt up & only become hot when you rev the engine & increase the flow/pressure. How quickly does the engine get up to tempriture? you should feel the top hose and rad become warm when the...

    Disco2 ACE

Did an oil & filter change a few years ago, quietened it down a little but not a lot. System bleed mite be an idea though as I have faultmate...will give it a try now the system appears to be working again..

    Disco2 ACE

Just fixed the ACE system by fitting a new pressure sensor and realised just how much racket the pump & system makes, operation previously inhibited by the sensor fault. Pump is only 18 months old so I don't think it's the culprit. Anyone elses ACE make a lot of noise? Probably more...

    Diagnostic Tools

I have a BBS Faultmate which is expensive, takes time to set up but is good and the support & updates also good. Only gripe is it can't do too much with the Motronic 5.2.1 on my V8, can reset adaptive & clear faults but thats all for now.

    4.0-4.6 Disco 2

Has anyone replaced their 4.0 with a 4.6 & if so did the Motronic ECU need re-programming or replacing? I know some NAS market D2's were 4.6's According to some because it's an adaptive system the unit will just compensate to the new engine but I have my doubts as the base adaptive 'tune'...

    Engine codes............ HELP PLEASE

Sounds similar to what my D2 was doing, faultmate giving codes of misfires & fueling out of limits. Traced to faulty coil packs, ok when cold played up when hot, quite common apparently. LPG tends to show up any slight weaknesses on the HT side. As for the LPG tune from what Ive been told...
