    Land Rover Discovery Sport Spied

This isn't the replacement for the Disco 4, it's the new Freelander. JLR have decided to drop the Freelander name, and make this one the "baby Discovery", like the Evoke is the "baby Range Rover". According to the head honcho, Land Rover will have three model families: Range Rover, Discovery...

Easiest way is to get hold of a Nano or Hawkeye. There's a map of people with one on the D2 Boy's club forum D2BC.co.uk • Index page

    Direct 4X4 roof tent system

That looks excellent! I might seriously consider that for my D2 when I get some spare cash.

    So what one ?

    I'm a 110 man myself, but I can't afford one!

    So what one ?

What's more, they are really fun vehicles to drive :) Sound good too.

    So what one ?

Look for a V8 Disco 2. The difference in economy isn't so huge, and they are much much cheaper. Keep the right foot light, and it'll be fine, but it has all the pulling power you need for hill starts.

    Hawkeye vs Nanocom

I think I read that the v6 of the Hawkeye firmware does a better job of the air bags, and there will be a v7 in the next couple of months that adds functions for D2s.

    The Forgotten Series

If that right-hand one is genuine, it's a very rare Forest Rover!

P38 4.0 petrol running very rich loss of power , misfire

The best tool to use is a Hawkeye or Nanocom, or a Testbook from Land Rover. Snap-On are still generic. A generic MAF sensor may also not function correctly with the Rover ECU.

    Hawkeye vs Nanocom

I have both, and they function pretty much identically. Nano programmes keys with the short code on the back of the circuit board (but there is a Google spreadsheet that generates the long form), and it handles programming the air bag heights better. The biggest difference though is the...

    Auto trans speeds????

So that when you are cresting a long hill or negotiating a twisty road, the 'box doesn't keep shifting in and out of gear - although you can just put into into 3 to achieve the same thing. ON a TD5 with its accelerator-by-wire system, it also makes the engine more responsive to changes in pedal...

    A quick question.

Eh? It's RWD with or without FWH. All they do is stop the half shafts turning the diff and prop shaft, which reduces a bit of drag. Unless the yellow knob is pressed in High range (or the box is in low), the front axle is not driven.

That's the way they have been since 2004 or 5.

    Catalytic convertor

Reading around, the general advice seems to be that if it was fitted at the factory, it needs to be there. That said, the MOT stations don't have any kind of definitive list of which vehicles had what fitted, so provided the exhaust gasses pass the standards for the year you should slip through...

When should you buy off-roading kit?

I agree with what has already been said. Probably the most useful first upgrade is a decent set of tyres - the factory fit are heavily biased towards road use, and if all that happens on a bit of wet ground is that your wheels spin, you are going to look like a complete idiot, and go nowhere...

    The perfect D2?

Early Facelift didn't have it fitted, nor did they have the internals in the transfer box to allow retrofitting. Later facelifts had it as an option, and so if it says it on the lever, it has it. Pre facelifts had the internals, but I don't think you could get the right lever factory fitted...

    Auto gear changing

On a D2 in low box, pressing the Mode button puts it in Manual mode in which you select the exact gear with the selector. Not very useful around town though....
