    Series 3 Transit Engine Orientation

Thanks for the replies chaps - the plug on the Transit engine appears to point at an angle on the corner, suggesting that in the transit application, the sump is not quite flat. In the end, I drove it side onto a slope, got the sump level (with a spirit level!) and dropped the oil/refilled...

    Series 3 Transit Engine Orientation

Hello All, I've recently bought a series 3 with a 2.5TDi Transit engine. Very pleased with the conversion, suits the series well (with RR diffs and larger wheels). I am about to service it and have a question about the oil level. In the series, the engine appears to be tilted in order to...

    300Tdi Sump replacement

Also, I found that the RTV sealant starts to cure very quickly once you've applied it, so don't hang around before putting the sump in place.

    300Tdi Sump replacement

I used a genuine Land Rover O-Ring, and did a further 20,000 miles no problem. I'd say it's better to replace the seal than to leave the 16 year old one on there anyway!!

    Advice please

As above, PAS and Diff Whine are areas to watch out for on pre-2008 models. The diff whine was caused by poor quality pinion bearings in the rear diff, and should have been sorted under warranty. The PAS whine was caused by contamination of the power steering fluid, which blocked up the filter...

    Alpine Window Rust Holes

Would that involve taking the window out first or do you mean patch it in-situ?

    Alpine Window Rust Holes

Well I think I'd rather get it sorted once and for all rather than bodge it, I'll have to put the feelers out and see if I can get someone to do it for me. Money's a bit tight atm, so I was hoping for simple fix that I could sort myself lol

    Timing Belt Inspection

You can do it on the ground no problem, once the fan and cowling are removed you can work from the top :)
