    Bl%#dy transfer box leak!

Just serviced mine and I noticed that my Tfr box is leaking behind the hand brake drum. To replace the seal is it Prop off Remove brake drum , shoes and backing plate. And then remove the seal. Does the seal just come out with a bit of leverage or is there anything else I need to be aware of...

Are your axle stands under the trailing arms for the axle? If so move em as that is not a load bearing part. Stands should be under the axle or on the chassis

Best suspension for road/light off road use, land rover 90

I would get OEM springs. If it is just laning or the odd p&p them you won't need anything else and avoids replacing brake flex hoses props etc

    Living with a Cheapo defender,

Another comparison, Mine is a 96 110 CSW. I paid £5400 for it in August 2011 so just under 2 years that I have had it. 2 previous owners from new. I have done 16k miles in it. Only had 1 patch welded on to an outrigger rest of the chassis is solid but continuously in need of sanding and...

    Living with a Cheapo defender,

Cheap and good usually never match up. On the up side if you are keeping yours long term then it gives you a great motor that should be reliable after all the work is done

    As was or new?

Depends if you want to restore it as a classic in which case just fix it or you could add to it as you have suggested which would make it a bit more "comfortable". If I was doing it from scratch as a daily driver I would upgrade where possible

    tracking

All the geometry for setting up the tracking is in the workshop manual but realistically you've no chance of getting it right. Take it to an independent tyre place and get them to do it.

    Diesel additive, 2-stroke oil?

This may be a bit of a daft question but do you add it to the tank empty and then fill up or add it at the end or half way through or does it not matter

    Rust!

It's part and parcel of owning a defender. I use a flap wheel on an angle grinder to take the rust off then black hamerite over the top. It should last a few years but its just one of those things!. Also use the paint on hammerite. I find it gives a better coat than the aerosol ones.

    Potentially stupid wiring question

Yes you could, it will look a bit nasty and will need a fuse on it. A pair of 55w spots will pull around 11 amps so your switch Would have to be able to handle this if you are not going to put a relay on it

Got mine fitted yesterday and I am no longer a slave to radio 2. Loads of of station choice now just need to remember to lower it for laning.

    Rear view camera.

From having a bit of a search there aren't any legalities around having it on all the time that I could see. As far as wiring you could take a live feed from either sunroof or interior light but pending what current it requires could create problems for those items if it overloads the fuse. I...
