Cant seem to keep the rear output shaft from leaking on the 110.

When I got it, the rear seal was leaking after it being changed a few months before hand with previous owner so replaced it and also tightened the nut as was very loose!

Leaked again soon after however so I then got a complete flange kit and replaced the lot as the flange was a little worn where the seal runs on it.

Put it all back together and seemed perfect until the other day I was servicing it and changing the oils and its leaking a small bit again!

Is it how I still don't have the but tight enough or what?

Has a 2" lift alright but surely no reason to be putting any pressure on it causing it to leak.

keep it as standard as there is no need to fuk about with a defender as they dont get stuck...

2" shocks and springs and then new radius arms, trailing arms, adjustable panhard and extended bump-stops later... I don't think that's really an option now :p

Checked the output shaft for play when I had the flange off and didn't feel anything but was late and I was tired the night I was doing it so maybe I'll double check it again during the week and see if I can spot something wrong.

Check the breather is clear, if it is blocked this can lead to a build-up of pressure which then finds a weak point by way of a seal somewhere.

Just serviced mine and I noticed that my Tfr box is leaking behind the hand brake drum. To replace the seal is it

Prop off
Remove brake drum , shoes and backing plate.
And then remove the seal. Does the seal just come out with a bit of leverage or is there anything else I need to be aware of?
Cheers Craig

Craig, remove prop & Brake drum, release handbrake cable, then you can leave shoes on backplate and undo backplate fixing bolts with socket and extension. Take off backplate. You will then need large socket (30mm from memory) to undo drive flange nut. Pull off drive flange to expose seal, use screwdriver (or proper seal remover if you have one) to take out old seal. Tap in new one making sure it is square then reassemble. dont forget felt seal under drive flange nut
