    Freelander 2 TD4 XS 2012 Engine Oil

Some engines burn oil when their running in, some dont. The new Td4 does in its first couple of thousand miles. Not seen one using oil after that though. Its just when its running in.

    Freelander 2 TD4 XS 2012 Engine Oil

In the first 2-3,000 miles your Td4 will probably use about 0.5-1ltr of engine oil. If you read your user manual, LR state that it can use alot more in the first few thousand miles. Its standard for the engine to us around 1ltr in its first 5k miles i would say.

What is it with landrover dealers ?

My post wasnt talking specifics. I've known alot of dealers and ive known alot of technicians. I was just trying to average out what ive seen and those numbers i gave are about it. For every 10 techs in a workshop, atleast half of them have little to no clue about the product. Always when...

    Freelander 2 S - Terrain Response

I've spoken to many people about the TR system and have used it various times myself. The very few who have ever touched the knob and know what it does, only tend to have used the snow mode. This delays throttle response and makes it impossible to apply harsh throttle responses. Its great for...

    Parking Sensors Fault

Yes the sensors are very prone to faulting in the rain. If you replicate the fault, there are very easy ways to see which sensors are functioning and which arent. If you activate the pdc system, so the sensors should operate if an object is detected. Then touch your finger to the sensor...

What is it with landrover dealers ?

You will generally find that if an average workshop has 10 technicians. 2 Apprentices, probably 1 year apart. Neither of which being trained to do more than remove sump bungs. 4 Technicians of 'Service Technician' standard. This means they dont have to have any product knowledge, any...

    Freelander 2 rear diff problems

Also keep in mind with a main dealer you will get a 1 year parts and labour warrenty. If the diff pinion bearing overhaul is done properly, ive not seen a reoccurance of it, not sure if anyone else has? With your steering issue , if it still whines. Did you flush out the fluid , or just...

Differences in Freelander Sat Nav units ?

Yeah i can honestly only think that there is 1 set of cable configurations for the MMM on FL2. Since its satnav only, no other vehicle specifications should affect it as far as im aware.

    Black Smoke & Missfire

Quite common for the turbo pipe to split , the one that goes into the throttle body at the front of the engine.

What makes Freelanders betterer than other 4x4's?

I hate to have to say it, but.... Most people who drive Freelanders use them for the school run or the work commute. Freelander is never going to be the best at that. It just isnt. Actual offroading capability of a Freelander is great. They perform. They arent as good as the bigger LR/RR...

    Freelander 2 sat nav problem

Dont put audio cd's into your MMM. Just clean the DVD as you would an ordinary dvd, then put it back in. Hopefully its just grease on the read side.

Yeah you can get them seperate from the trim from your main dealer parts department.

    Rear door latch replacement

Due to the way its wired, if your latch unlocks, but doesnt lock, then the wiring is fine. The only thing it could be other than the latch (and this is alot less likely), is the cjb. I think its pins 5 and 7 for normal lock function. You should get a pulsed voltage one way to unlock, then...

    Buying Advise

Old Geezer, ive never heard of most of these faults. The Rear diff is common on the earlier ones, but unheard of almost on 59plates and later. Tyre wear on FL2 is the best out of any LR ever produced. Clutches and DMF failure is uncommon unless you tow alot and then its normally just a...

    Buying Advise

There isnt any shared components between an fl1 and fl2, so no vcu, no crappy brakelight switches. Since your buying an in warrenty car, i'd just make sure its in decent condition, got good tyres on and is the spec you want. Also if it has satnav, make sure you get a disk with it !
