    whats pulsair?

    (1) Pulse air is an emissions feature whereby air is bled into the exhaust system as close as possible to the head. If there are any unburnt hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas, the additional air supplied should be enough to burn them off (in the exhaust manifold) before they exit the exhaust...

    New/recon/rebuild Engine L322 ???

We do seem to be hindered by a lack of information here .... (a) Is this a petrol or diesel engine ? (b) Auto or manual gearbox ? (c) Have you tried starting and running engine with LPG disconnected ? (d) Have you tried starting and running engine with radiator cap removed to see if it blows...

    New/recon/rebuild Engine L322 ???

I agree entirely and that's my point. If the only symptom is loads of white smoke, then maybe the engine's basically fine and there's something else going on. If the smoke lingers then it's unlikely to be water from a leaking HG as that would generate steam which looks like white smoke, but...

    New/recon/rebuild Engine L322 ???

Is smoke the only symptom that something may be wrong ? Is the engine overheating, is there any mechanical noise, is there a severe lack of power ? Does this white smoke linger or does it disappear almost immediately (within 5 secs) ?

Air Con - 1st post be gentle

It's an electrically operated/activated clutch and forms part of the a/c compressor which is belt driven by the engine. I would guess the clutch mechanism is some where behind and very close to the pully end.

P38, 2.5 diesel, EGR removal?? is it possible??

Not actually completely true, people believe these things because they don't understand how it works, they believe it is there to "lower emissions" without understanding the mechanics behind that. The sole purpose of the EGR system is to reduce the formation of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx). These...

P38, 2.5 diesel, EGR removal?? is it possible??

Not too sure what the ECU will do if it detects an EGR valve system "failure" as that would be what happened it you removed it all. You could try disconnecting the vacuum actuator and see what happens, although there is a guy on here who seems to be very conversant with the way the LR ECU...

P38, 2.5 diesel, EGR removal?? is it possible??

Are you planning a permanent removal of the complete EGR system as that would probably need either an ECU remap or replacing your current ECU with one calibrated to run without EGR (some P38 TDi's came without EGR) ?

    removing classic door card

Not sure if this varies with model-year, but on my '88 Tdi, there are two screws holding the arm rest on and 1 small screw hidden behind the door opener handle holding the plastic handle surround in. Then it's just a case of pulling out all the trim clips holding on the two sides and the bottom...

    P38 cam sensor

A failed cam sensor won't do anything to ignition timing. The cam rotates at half engine speed and the sensor is used to identify which of the two revs in the two-rev-four-stroke cycle the engine is on, i.e. at TDC-Cyl1 it shows whether cylinder 1 is at the top of the compression stroke or the...

Any one know these fault codes??

Normal narrowband O2 (HEGO) sensors operate like switches, when they sense from the exhaust gas that the engine is running lean, they switch, when they then sense from the exhaust gas that the engine is running rich, they switch back and so on. The software in the ECU is written to gently ramp...
