    Side steps

I'm still after a replacement bracket for my steps. Anyone come across somewhere selling them? Or anyone got one in ok condition for sale?

    Would you trust your Gaylander?

We did 1200 miles in a little over 24 hours. Me & the wife shared the driving. Didn't miss a beat except we ran out of screen wash. I find it's mostly non necessary stuff that breaks anyways. Mechanically mines never given me a break down.

    Inlet manifold/td4

I too have a replacement inlet manifold all cleaned up (bought it from eBay as 2 of my current EGR bolts where cross threaded when I got the car), also looking at sourcing these gaskets. Anyone got a link to somewhere online selling them?

    does not move!

With regards the original question. My handbrake sticks on in winter when left overnight. It releases if I accelerate slightly to pull away and is fine for the rest of the day. I was tending to pull the handbrake all the way up on the ratchet, but now just leave it in park with light handbrake...

Wheel wobble - steering still there

I did have the CV joints checked and they said they appeared to be fine. Will take it in and ask them to double check them (or if I don't have time I'll check them myself when back in Manchester).

Wheel wobble - steering still there

The car doesn't vibrate at all, it is just the steering wheel rocking back and forth about an inch each way. Like a fast pendulum back and forth

Wheel wobble - steering still there

There is no wobble at all under 67MPH, every MPH over that the wobble intensifies, pushing 80MPH it disappears again, but obviously I can't travel at that speed.

Wheel wobble - steering still there

Thanks Hippo. The wheels look absolutely perfect, not a mark on them at all inside & out, not even any signs of curbing. they may have had a knock from a pot hole or something which has slightly distorted them, but nothing visible so I'll watch the guy with the balancing machine like a hawk...

Wheel wobble - steering still there

I'll see what I can do about sourcing a sixth tyre and trying that out. I'm going to take it in to somewhere else and have them balance the wheels. I'll be able to see if they are out of balance if the new tyre place start adding weights. I've been advised that the balancing machine at Hiq may...

Wheel wobble - steering still there

They are the original Land Rover 16" alloys. They are in great condition with not a single ding on them. Balancing weights have always been the adhesive ones and not the rim clips. All wheels have been removed and checked thoroughly for obvious damage, cracks etc. Track rod ends & drive shafts...

Wheel wobble - steering still there

Right lets see. Drive shafts etc have all been checked and are fine. All 4 tyres are the same, all new on the same day so diameters should be equal. All tyre pressures match. Have tried fronts on back & backs on front and still have a wobble. In the current configuration the wobble is the...

Wheel wobble - steering still there

Well, we have tried everything to sort this steering wobble and nothing has worked. The whole front end has been checked for wear/play. all engine mounts checked, all bushes checked, some replaced and the wobble persists. Been to 2 seperate 4x4 specialists to check for problems and both are...

    Heated windscreen?

I'll dig out the policy & take a look. I'm with the AA for my insurance so no doubt they will squirm out/have a huge excess.

    Heated windscreen?

Hi Rich. How much are you paying for the heated screen and from where? I'd be interested in this also as my windscreen is cracked and I'd like to replace with a heated one.

Freelander Bumbers back to Black ??

I used a cheap Simoniz bumper black. Comes in a bottle and I poor it into a small bucket and apply it thickly & gloopy with a paint brush everytime I wash the car. With a brush it takes about 5 minutes to do. The first few times you will get streaks in it when it rains but after a few coatings...

    Central locking

Could be the rubber buttons are perishing and the micro switches underneath are failing. Take it apart and check inside. Also check inside for corrosion.

    My first rescue / recovery!!!

Good work fella. I towed the dominos pizza delivery guy in his old almera up our road tonight. He ended up delivering next door which was lucky for him. We have compacted ice as opposed to snow.

    poor fuel economy td4 auto

I think the cold weather in general ruins the MPG. Big block to heat up, and lots of ancillaries running. You will probably find it picks up again when the weather gets a bit warmer. I find that whenever I need to use glow plugs (when the dash light comes on) the MPG is due a hit. Then when it...

    poor fuel economy td4 auto

My MPG is down a bit in this weather. I put it down to running the heaters etc on full whack, and the fact that the engine seems to take longer to warm up so using more revs on the autobox. Run some millers through on a double dose for a tank or so and see if it picks up, I like many on the...

    More freezing weather!

I only worry about the back window freezing up, as this one really needs to work in order to open the tailgate. Do you need the other windows open right away? They should defrost on their own when the cab warms, just make sure you scrape them before you leave and wipe them with a dry cloth to...
