Headlining - the cheap & easy fix!

I can vouch for this one working a treat. A mate of mine did exactly the same thing on his MkIV Zodiac 25 years back and it looked perfect.

By the way, I pop down to Millers in Brighouse for all my oils and have no problems as they recomend which ones to use and the prices are reasonable enough, although not the cheapest. You pay for what you get. Always had an aversion to anything with "castrol" on the tin, but that's just me.

Nice of you to drop in Benneh. I did go for the hot spanner as we have one gathering dust at work. The back bolts I got red hot and they came off with a big chissel and bigger hammer, but the front ones were a bit tricky to get at without removing half the steering, so I just melted them off...

Just done a little delving into the Kenlowe fan. There seems to be a view that having an electric instead of a viscous fan results in a warming up of the intercooler. Therefore fitting the Kenlowe may well wipe out any benefit gained in fitting the bigger intercooler. As I am chiefly...

    Help Please Rear Axle Bush

Look on about page 5 of the threads for a Disco rebuild thread by "steve's P38RR". He replaced the bushes on his and has photo's that might show you what you want. Both his and Bennehboys threads are a right good read as they have done many jobs and mods between them with very good photo's.

Just got time before tea for a quick update after deleting the centre box. Fuel consumption is around 25.5mpg, so that's still around 3mpg improvement over the as bought and un-modified vehicle. Thinking about investing in a Kenlowe fan before adding the intercooler. Might start another thread...

Injector harness change but what about rest of loom?

Since replacing my harness about 6 months ago I check the red connector every month and still get the odd drop coming out of the loom. It's getting less and less. More to the point, the engine runs fine. The trick is to keep checking the round plug on the front of the engine. As soon as oil...

Something that works off the pressure from the spare tyre might do the trick. I'd like a compressor but my shed is also full of junk. And my 2 year old likes to watch TV standing on the coffee table.

    Manual TD5, where to begin.

Wonder if that might be a CV joint on its way out? Get under there and see if you can see any wet areas arond the wheel hubs. That's if you still have any limbs and appendages left after your trip to Simmonites:D.

I hope that you are making this in a shed. It's traditional y'know.

    Transfer box oil

Welcome to the wonderful world of home servicing.:D That filler is a pig to get at, being nicely obscured by the handbrake cable. I got a Draper oil filler syringe thingy that helps a lot - about the size of a grease gun. But it is still a fiddle to get the feed pipe into the filler hole and...

    engine oil grade

I always use the runniest oil that is on the list of recomended viscosities, so that would be the 5W/30. I had a nasty experience running a mondeo 2.2TDCI on 10W/40. Recomended bY Ford and Haynes for the car, but it was too thick for the turbo bearings and killed the engine one july morning...

Try Paddock for those Grabbers in your size. I've heard that wranglers are not that good and rather expensive.

TD5 revving on gear change !

Not a big expert on this area myself, but I believr that the TD5 throttle is a "drive by wire" system, having a potentiometer rather than a cable. Could this be where the problem lies?

    ball joints

A wise decision seeing as your circumstances are similar to my own. I was quoted £200 plus parts (I will get the Lemforder items from Paddock so I know for certain a good quality replacement is being fitted) and that the job will take someone who knows Discos about half a day to do.

    ball joints

I like to do as much of my own work as possible, but having had a look at whats involved with this one, I have decided to run a mile because that's how far it is to the nearest garage that specialises in Land Rovers. I need my Disco every day and don't want it sat on axle stands on the drive...

Thanks for the responses chaps. ClassikFan, I would definitely recoment replacement hoses. My mate got some from Paddock, but one didn't fit and they told him to chop it down from 90 to 45 degrees - it still doesn't fit! Only complaint I have ever heard about Paddock stuff though and I got all...
