thanks - was planning to use some old dpc lol ! Been pouring water over the car and water does seem to come in from the lock and splash inside so will be fitting the dpc today.

Done some work on the drivers door and the waterproof plastic membrane is missing. Any idea's where to buy these ( and what they are actually called?) and what do they really do if anything? I have tried searching but search does not seem to be working today!

if you find when the job is done on the drivers door that the locks keep opening and closing several times, its because the central locking motor thing is positioned to far back towards hinges : just loosen the plate and move slightly to the right - even a few mm can cause this. easily solved !

And the lock does come out eventually - even I managed it ! I think you have to tilt it at an angle to get it out. And remember how you got it out - as I had a bugger of a job getting it back in !

does it open if you put the key in the lock? If so, prob the little spring inside the lock mechanism- see the sticky thread at the top of the page for details

I had same problem with 87 classic RR - turned out the wheel balancing was out by miles!

And we also had to weld the cradle back together - no supplier could get their hands on one (97 disco 300tdi).

My strap was gone completely when I took what was left of boot floor out. Cheapest replacement was £69 although they couldnt say when they could get them in. He suggested making something instead of buying! Is it needed for MOT - mine has clearly been missing for years and its not come up !

Thanks Dave - will copy re the rubber bits lol. Floor in this afternoon I hope ! And I agree with you over pre drilled holes - everything seems to have holes filled with bungs that leak : these are being filled in once and for all !

Thanks James - I think you might be right to replace the lot ! I've seen a lot of chat about whether there is a need for the sedimenter, and the view is split 50/50. You reckon no need for it ? Andrew

mark - you seem to have my Disco ! All the same problems on mine and same problem with MOT man! Failed on a few bits of rust around suspension mounts, but when my mate stripped it back we found loads more holes ! Only thing we not tackled is the sills. MOT gave me advisory on body mounts...
