    Disco 4 (10 plate)

I thought 'a plume of smoke every time you depress the pedal on the right' was a feature of all discos? :behindsofa:

    Sitting pretty

Exactly, my thinking. Modern, clean lines re so much nicer and the disco has such a fine looking face it's a shame to hide it behind a cage. I don't mind the centre support so much, especially if it's supporting lamps, and I do quite like the plastic moulded version seen on later D2s, but the...

    Sitting pretty

When I bought my 300 she came with a built-in kid-killer (full wrap around 'Bull bars') which I've hated since day 1 but didn't have time to sort. Well, tonight I bit the bullet and after wrestling with some random nut sizes (4x 14mm bolts, 3 with 15mm nuts ^^) and recalling that there's little...

Fitting a NOS kit to a Disco

Chinos I can live with, just, but not when combined with jumpers worn 'over the shoulder'. Only Dicky Bird should be allowed to get away with that particular faux pas.

Fitting a NOS kit to a Disco

As I see it, the install would be prety complex given the additional need for a rear-facing camera and recording equipment, to capture the astonished look of the guy behind as you scream away from him, then the ensuing hilarity followed by frustration as you explode, blocking his path...

    Veggie power

Found some 100% sunflower oil in tesco, £12 for 10l. Not as good as rapeseed but I did get a couple of 'free' 10l containers to help with future mixes! She doesn't start quite so easily 1st thing now, which is to be expected and I can live with, but since my wife will be the main driver when my...

    Veggie power

Happy to report no incidents whatsoever. In fact (as someone earlier said, this could be all in my mind), the 50 mile trip to work seemed smoother and quieter than usual. Now to find some jerry cans.

    Veggie power

100% rapeseed in Asda today, 1.20 per litre (1litre bottles). Saving 16p at the pump. Bought a few boxes and have just chucked 10l on top of 1/4 tank of derv. It'sthe first time I've tried this so starting at 60/30 ish. Fingers crossed the drive to work in the morning will be un-eventful! P.s...

    Disco = amazing off road!

Couldn't agree more. I've spent much of the last 10 years driving company BMW and Mercedes saloons and wouldn't swap a single one of them for my ES. Even my kids will choose her first if I have to take them out somewhere, clever little monkeys that they are.

I have cc on mine, I just wish the bugger worked.

Brilliant! I've spoken with a few manufacturers/suppliers of suspension kits and they all say the same... "You want to do what?" Guess they're used to people going up, not down. The search continues...

Believe me, it may be a stooopid idea but it's crossed my mind! What's killing me is that I've found a ton of suspension modification kits, but every one of them increases the ride height! Surely someone somewhere has a kit to lower it?

    Going down...

Unfortunately, tree sliders sit at roughly the same height as the steps but stick out as far (if not farther) so I'd possibly struggle more than I do now. My legs aren't as strong as they could be so climbing in is something I'd rather avoid. Also, because of my height steps launch me too high...

I have the ES so steps are already in place but to be honest, I find them to be slightly inconvenient. They look great and are brilliant for helping my kids to get in the back but they jut out just enough to hinder my legs as I enter the cockpit. I'm quite tall and can pretty much turn around...

    Going down...

Heya, Now the hand controls are installed, I need to permanently lower the suspension on my '95 Disco by approximately 1" - 1.5" to aid with entering/exiting the vehicle. I've searched these hallowed halls and found loads of references to the series 2's air suspension but I'm struggling to find...

300 TDI 'check engine' light - HELP

Have a '95 2.5 tdi and it started doing exactly the same thing to me this morning: chugging at low revs the engine dips (but doesn't stall) and the 'Check Engine' light flickers on, rev up and she's fine. Would love to hear people's thoughts on this problem.

For as long as I can remember I've wanted a landie, but somehow I never got around to it. Something about having a wife and kids made a Series 1 with a nicely battered canvas roof seem like an expensive toy! Well, fortune smiled on me this week when I was told my new company car (unfortunately...
