Heya,
Now the hand controls are installed, I need to permanently lower the suspension on my '95 Disco by approximately 1" - 1.5" to aid with entering/exiting the vehicle.
I've searched these hallowed halls and found loads of references to the series 2's air suspension but I'm struggling to find out how I can lower this sprung version.

A point in the right direction would be gratefully received, thanks.

mother in law has trouble getting in my disco unless i park next to a kerb. usually take the caravan step if were going to be stopping in a car park
 
I have the ES so steps are already in place but to be honest, I find them to be slightly inconvenient. They look great and are brilliant for helping my kids to get in the back but they jut out just enough to hinder my legs as I enter the cockpit.

I'm quite tall and can pretty much turn around and I'm almost sat down. Just an inch lower would be perfect.
 
Unfortunately, tree sliders sit at roughly the same height as the steps but stick out as far (if not farther) so I'd possibly struggle more than I do now. My legs aren't as strong as they could be so climbing in is something I'd rather avoid.

Also, because of my height steps launch me too high into the cabin space and introduce the risk of losing my balance, falling into the car rather than sliding onto the seat.
 
just do boy racer on the cheap and cut 1 coil out of all the springs

Believe me, it may be a stooopid idea but it's crossed my mind!

What's killing me is that I've found a ton of suspension modification kits, but every one of them increases the ride height!
Surely someone somewhere has a kit to lower it? :doh:

I suspect if you spoke to some spring manufacturers they would be able to help. There will be something made for another vehicle that will fit your need.

You need shorter spring but with the same weight-carrying ability as the originals.
 
Brilliant!

I've spoken with a few manufacturers/suppliers of suspension kits and they all say the same... "You want to do what?"

Guess they're used to people going up, not down. The search continues...
 
Don't know where you are but Paul Savage in Redditch (01527 521666) made me some motorcycle fork springs years ago and advertises a spring design & manufacture service. If you can find out the rate and fitted length of the standard ones he would be worth a call.
