    1997 disco - clock removal?

Glad you posted this, my light stopped working last weekend. Was the replacement bulb easy to source?

How do you get to a D1 Aerial???

I found it easier to take the wing off than try to get in through the wheel arch. Much easier than mucking about in the dark and dirty depths. Pop out 3 (or is it 4) bolts around the door hinge, 6 Phillips screws along the bonnet edge, prise off some gunk and you're in. Found out the hard way...

What's this 300tdi windscreen part called?

Had my windscreen replaced last month and the fitter said the full set of trims costs more than the glass!

    disco camblet change

In a nutshell, you engine will die, horribly and painfully. If you're 'lucky', you'll only need to replace the cam shatf, piston rods, cylinder head, valves, injectors... Often results in requiring a whole new block though. Google 'disco 2 petrol cam belt service intervals' and check when it...

Leaky Disco... what needs attention first?

I'd expect the noise to be progressive and if it quietens off suddenly when you de-throttle, it's unlikely to be a wheel bearing. If it's in the centre and variable as you say, it could very well be transmission. Red has an auto box and when I hit 50ish she starts to whine a little, easing off...

Leaky Disco... what needs attention first?

Looks cleaner than Big Red, I'm quite jealous (but don't tell her). Do you notice any vibration when the whining starts and is it confined to one side? I'm wondering if you have a wheel bearing on its way out, or at least in need of adjusting? Kicking off at 45mph+ would make sense.

97 japspec 300 written off by dustcart

One thing you said earlier stuck in my mind... "we often have to pull them out of the ditch with our tractors" (paraphrasing). Well, feck 'em. Talk to the neighbours, tell them what happened and ask them to refuse to help next time. Won't help with the legal battle at hand (some great advice...

    Rear electric windows - 1995 300tdi

Cheers rattler, I'll check that out before I destroy the PCB with my 'haven't soldered since school' efforts! Assuming I ever find the bugger that is ^^

    Rear electric windows - 1995 300tdi

Perhaps I could have worded that better. I got as far as removing the glove box but the gubbins back there look different to pictures I've seen (the link you pasted is one of the references I've studied). Spent the last 2 days fixing small niggles (replacing the drivers window channel, hub...

    Rear electric windows - 1995 300tdi

As with many other Discos of this era, my rear windows have stopped working. I've read about the usual 'dry solder' fix but when I opened my glove box to remove the PBC, I was kinda surprised to find it's not there  Can't find a reference to this in my workshop manual and wondered if...

How much do you pay for your SVO

Short answer. As little as possible. Anything over £1.20/l is a waste of time and effort. As and when Asda/Tesco play their price war games, I stock up.

Why did you buy a disco!!

Totally agree. Was at a 'well known tyre replacement centre' the other day, thinking I'd lost a balancing weight from a front wheel (turns out my bearing needs adjusting, hub nut spanner just arrived from Paddock's, just waiting fr the weekend to fix) and as the dude was lowering the jack he...

Why did you buy a disco!!

Agree wholeheartedly with this comment. Every day at least one muppet cuts me up. They just don't seem to understand that it's a bad idea to jump in front of 2 tonnes of steel with the braking efficiency of an ICBM. One of these days I may decide to not brake at all... As for the idiots...

Why did you buy a disco!!

Since big red arrived, the whole family have gone LR mad! She's towed all of us, including a dog, tent and fookin heavy trailer through landscapes a family saloon would have shuddered at the mere sight of, without so much as breaking a sweat. Couldn't ask for more. Have an X3 arriving soon...

    Boot door speakers...

In a word, no. The amp will destroy them. They'll probably sound better than the subs since they're currently not behaving correctly, but won't give you earth shattering bass. To install these you'll need to bypass the amp in the boot door and wire straight to the speaker wire. They have an...

    Boot door speakers...

Had this issue a few weeks ago and the solution was simpler than the journey to find it! Behind the head unit you should find a small connector tucked away (probably pushed towards the driver's side) with 2 wires (black & red). This is a dedicated feed to the subs and utilises the crossover and...

    Disco 300tdi Head Gasket

Did he say The gasket, or The head gasket. Could be that it's as simple as a small gasket to seal the rad plug.

    Sitting pretty

I thought I was imagining it but the steering is loads lighter, cornering is smoother and she doesn't nose-dive when I brake now. Can't believe how much the ride has improved from such a small (!) change.
