If you are unsure keep pressing the brake pedal hard and keep. Pressure on it with the motor running this will put the max strain on the system do it as many times as you can and then check the work you have done! When driving if you stamped on the pedal that hard you insides would fly out ;)

Morning gary it might be an air lock in therestill surely there would be some sign of fluid if a union was bad?

That's fine wonder if its intermitent from the alternator check voltage out of it....

Does sound like a alternator problem best to check it asap put a multimeter on the battery see what voltage your getting when reving!

Hello bud mine is one complete cover that covers the whole engine thought they were all the same there were some complete engines being broken on flebay a couple of weeks ago!

We had a vw toureg 4x4 at work a while back that did the same it showed nowt on diagnostics. This went on for weeks in the end it turned out to be a failing injector!!!

I use morris or fuchs w10-40 in my td4 only because its on tap ! But I,d use any half decent 10-40 oil if I'm honest .just change it at regular intervals job done:)

Cleaned out the inlet manifold on my 155000 miles td4 what a mess the ports should be roughly the size of a £2 coin but were the size of a penny!! Heard they get bad on here but to see it was a bit of a shock. So used inlet cleaner first then petrol with a small brush I found. Several hours...

All I can say is wow what a mess. Today I've removed the inlet manifold to clean the cr@p out of it. A few on here have spoke about it and how bad it can get and they are not wrong!!!! The ports that should roughly be the size of a £2 coin were infact the size of a penny!!!which can't be good...

Spray a bit of wd or something like around pipes and manifold bit by bit with the motor running and listen out for any change might detect an air leak somewhere..
