They're not the sort of thing that needs changed often I guess. I would perhaps think about breakers.

Same thing happened to my 2004 TD5. Battery fine one minute. Complete collapse the next, from being able to start the car to not even turning it over. One new battery later and everything's tickety boo. Except for the wallet that is.

Umm. This looks like you get rid of a pretty useful door pocket on an original card for a flimsy drop down tray that everything will roll off. You also get a shiny bit of bling that most of the time nobody will see except your dog. I can't see the appeal.

Is it the model with the amp under the front passenger seat? If so, check the connections there too.

i agree with thebiglad. I've had TD5's with and without. There's definitely a difference for the better as regards road handling with an ACE fitted car, but it isn't that dramatic and non-ACE fitted vehicles are still pretty good and take those bends without issue. If you've got it, I think...

They did change the rear light layout. Dunno why, but all the lights are still there. Didn't notice the arches really. The grab handles are on models which don't have a passenger airbags. Even on facelift models. I think the differences you note are mainly differing trim levels.

I have AT's, the new ones and really can't complain. Heard good things about BFG's though. There you go - a choice of two.

Disco 1's are old now. They're supposed to be a bit better off road, but you've got to live with Austin Allegro switchgear, door handles etc. Disco 2's are more refined but can cause a few more mechanical problems. They both suffer from rust but in different areas. Each car has their followers...

I don't think you have to take the wheel off. Undo the hard-to-get-to two screws on the other side of the steering wheel and then that should give you access. Best to disconnect the battery so that the airbag doesn't go off. (Make sure you've got your stereo code handy).

The TD5 engine is an excellent engine. Head gaskets have been known to go, but not that common. Other than that, no reliability concerns at all. The bits that stick on to it can be another matter though. Starter motors, EGRs MAFF, etc. Then there's the air suspension and ACE that can cause you...

When I read your post it sounded to me like the traction control kicking in. Traction is momentarily lost when going over an obstacle and that causes it to activate. I've had two Disco TD5's and the later one is more sensitive as to when the TC kicks in, not that it's overly so. Don't know if...
