My '80 certainly has two-speed wipers. Check that somebody hasn't swapped in an older single-speed wiper motor and bodged the connections, and check that the switch is putting +12v out on different connections when turned.

Well, somebody somewhere said that the Intermotor brake light switches were a waste of money. They may have been right. I've adjusted it four times now, and they're not working again this evening. Lucas switch ordered. I don't want to have to pay £40ish for a genuine, but... It's a sodding...

You haven't mentioned the throttle stop adjuster screw. If you give the engine a whiff of throttle, will it idle with no choke? (From the wing side, have a look at the throttle linkage - you'll see a small screw, probably with a similar plastic shroud to the mix screw, which sets the position...

...and the reason I'd not noticed it is that it's not there. The bulkhead's completely smooth, the full width and height. Looking in the parts list, the rib bolts on as a spare carrier, and is listed as "not SW"...

1980 is the cutoff date for needing a fog light - but, again, if fitted to older ones must work. Reversing lights aren't legally required even on new vehicles now, and are never tested, even if fitted. Which is just as well on ours...
