tippex test aint really that good normal for freelander to tighten up on full lock check the front mount on rear diff for the knocking noise i would get two tyres on the back that are the same make and tread depth dont know if you have snow where you are but find somewhere slippy ie snow or wet...

ok well done,maybe i was lucky but mine came off easier than that,i replaced the washers,but unless there damaged i would leave them as they are a bit fiddly to get on

i may be reading thread wrong but you need to get the prop of the spline first,then the support bearing will nock off as it just an interference fit on shaft,are you trying to knock the bearing off with the prop still on?

my tyres are half worn road biased and here on my little island in the snow i was pulling civics etc out ditches easily!! look under your freelander and see if the prop is attatched!!

the bolt can stay on the prop,you need to now knock the prop/shaft away from vcu it might take a good couple of knocks to come of spline,ive just done mine took me an hour tops

freelanders are great in the snow sounds like the prop has been removed and you only got front wheel drive!!!!!

check the inner cv on the front drive shafts,grab the shaft and try pulling up and down on it if theres any movement that could be the cause

probably your vcu bearings,ive just done mine was making same noise,looked at bearings and rear one had been replaced at some time as it looked newer than front one and the rubber on front one was perished so presumed it was that one making noise,got two new bearings anyway,replaced them and it...

if its 1.8 petrol.mine was same.bracket was fine so fitted new clutch master/slave cylinder and is fine now,its a easy job to do took about ten minutes worst bit was connecting master cylinder back onto pedal,better with some one helping

ok guys,thanks,where can you get the drive shafts new for £60 ive been on ebay and can only find them for £99? can you not get inner cv on its own like the outer? i would rather get a new shaft as i might end up with same problem again with second hand part alough no round abouts on arran so it...

are the front drive shafts on a 1.8 freelander the same length??? seem to remmember someone saying they were,but cant be sure,my inner o/s/f is worn and making a noise on roundabouts,and scrappy says he only has n/s/f but he thought they were different lengths?????

hi im looking at a 2002 freelander 1.8 h/b which is suppose to be the facelift model,but it still has the same dash clocks as my 99 model i thought the clocks would be the newer design? could it have been old stock un registerd? or am i missing something?i thought the mild face lift was 2001,ie...
