    Sometimes won't start

My money would be on a bad electrical connection to the solenoid valve. A mate of mine had one, where his disco was a sod to start, so I asked him to "turn it over" while I looked under the bonnect (in the dark). I could see the solenoid wire arcing on the terminal, with movement of the...

    diesel series 2a temp!

Try a new thermostat, possibly even going for a lower temp one. My 2.25 petrol was running in the upper part of gauge (worrying) but I changed the stat for a 68 Deg one and it never went past the middle. Mark

    Series 11 1961

I'd be tempted to stick this question on the Series 2 club webforum. You might get a more accurate valuation, particularly if you stick a few photos on, and more technical details. My estimate would be £1000-1500 for a good runner, needing cosmetic work, or £2000 plus if decent looker...

    newbie to series questions

I don't think i'd be sticking more than 50% quality liquid veg in in summer, mixed with 50% dino diesel. And in cold winter prob no more than 10% veg to 90% dino. On other hand I run a 300TDI, and other family motors on 100% biodiesel all year round, just adding upto 10% missfuel (petrol/dino...

SWB's can seat 3 across front seats (2 in comfort), and can be fitted with either two forward facing or 4 sideways facing rear seats (various types). LWB's can seat upto 12 depending on seating arrangement. Mark

Good info ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ However do be very careful running the diesels on veg oil. The standard lucas injection pumps are not up to it, and its like playing Russian roulette. Sometimes people are lucky and they go on for years. Others are unlucky and kill their pumps in only a few...

Can go for anything from "scrap" value to £20K. All depends on age, condition and originality. Tax exempts go for more money for obvious reasons. If its a reasonable solid vehicle, not needing major welding/repairs £500 is a good start. Galvanised chassis add to value. Mark

Add slow to your list for the 2.25 diesel Usual faults are; -rust to chassis -rust to bulkhead -transmission leaks -transmission whine/problems with gearbox, clutch and overdrive -electrical problems - bits dropping off - brakes binding/inbalanced - leaks Pretty much everything you get with a...

    engine swap

There's more 300TDIs around than 200TDI's. The shortage of good 200TDI's pushes up their price, and in my experience, disco's with good 200TDI's tend to be more than 300TDI's as the engine conversions in series 88"/109"'s are much easier to do with 200TDI's. A 200TDI drops on existing Series...

    engine swap

You'd be better just selling the 200TDI engine to someone doing a series 2/3 engine conversion. Decent 300TDI's can be picked up for less money than you will prob get for the 200TDI. Was certainly the case when I was looking for a 200TDI to convert my Series 2 88". Ended up going for a 300TDI...
