    Land Rover design changes

I could be wrong, but from what I gather the "urban" look is due to EU meddling, making cars "safer" to hit pedestrians with, so now all cars have to look like some godawful bubble shape car drawn by a toddler, no nice angles and bolt on modular plates for body panels! I think its...

    Land Rover design changes

The new "defender replacement" DC100 looks abso-bloody-lutey HIDEOUS :5bpuke: Look at that, horrible! Looks like they cross bred a Freelander 2 with a mini countryman! Nobody would ever take that off road, too easy to damage and too hard to replace! Look at that front wing panel for example...

Life with my Landy (Platty's Project Thread)

Looks like the beginning of a long happy story! :D Ive got loads of things I need to do to my freelander, but Im too broke to do any of them! :(

    Snorkels... Again

Exhaust gets very hot, Id be worried about melting the hose. Also Im sure Ive read somewhere that freelanders dont really need snorkels because the alternator is below the air intake and thatll get flooded n ruined first!

    Convoy for heroes 2014..

Looks good and fun, and I know its all fer a good cause and all, but I cant justify £70+ for a weekend camping!

    Window grilles?

Why would you need it? If its for off road only use, to protect your windows from getting scratched or smashed then you can do whatever you want really. But for road use, Im not quite sure really, bit of an odd one. Perhaps instead of a fixed one, how about a flip up/down one like you see on...

17 year old Insurance for a freelander 1

Insurance isnt too bad on them. Im 25, 3 years NCB, paying £52/month fully comp for my 2003 K series. I imagine the diesels are cheaper as derv tends to always be a bit cheaper on insurance. Quotes for a disco were slightly cheaper (something like £45/month) but defenders were much higher...

    Air con info

My A/C is a bit weedy all the time. I believe theyre linked to an external temperature sensor or something like that. Even in the height of summer my A/C cooled the air a little but certainly not ice cold, and that was just after getting it serviced and refilled as it had sat idle all winter...

    Does anyone know this car??

Its got that fookin orrible body kit on it, dont buy it! :P Have a look at all the usual things when buying any 2nd hand car, especially the oil/coolant etc for signs of head gasket failiure though that being said, post 2001/2002 rover redesigned the K series head gasket and practically...

    1.8 K series... 42MPG? Surely not

Well, I know the full history of the car from new and theres nothing to indicate it has been tuned or remapped. Not that Im complaining if it has :D Any way I can check? And are these "man & van mobile ECU tuning" people any good?

    1.8 K series... 42MPG? Surely not

More fuel economy & performance would be nice :D It accelerates at about the same speed as continental drift :p

    1.8 K series... 42MPG? Surely not

As far as Im aware, no it hasnt been. Though it is something Ive considered getting done. That is a handy looking mod actually, the fuel gauge is horrifically innacurate, depending on what angle Im at it can make about 1/4 a tank of difference! I normally just go by my trip counter...

    1.8 K series... 42MPG? Surely not

Unfortunately I cant afford to brim it once, let alone twice! :P So for now, the highly innacurate fuel guage reading will have to do! :D Im happy imagining my super fuel efficient hippo is getting 40+ MPG :D

    1.8 K series... 42MPG? Surely not

So I was bored n after a long drive yesterday thought Id see just how bad my fuel economy was. I drove from Taunton to Warminster to Guildford & back, all in all about 288 miles. Cost me £40 in petrol, now according to this site Fuel Calculators » Fuel-Economy.co.uk 288 miles using £40 of...

    Air Conditioning re-gas

ackshooally, as an airsofter, I can tell you that R134a gas has been phased out by pretty much everywhere and replaced with HFC134a instead which dont damage the ozone, plus nobody actually uses it because its a pathetically weak gas. Its just too weak to work in our cold climate, even at the...

    Air Conditioning re-gas

As far as I know, the FL is designed to do that! When you put the blower knob (probably not the correct technical term for it, but oh well :D ) on windscreen mode the AC comes on?
  17. Tiercel

    Air Conditioning re-gas

It does annoy me that the AC comes on automatically to demist your windows, whilst I appreciate that it demists really well, it also makes the car bloody freezing! :D But if it keeps the system from drying out and leaking then I guess its worth being a bit cold til the heating kicks in.

Have you told you insurance company about your modifications?

Nope. But thats because I dont have any mods :D My last car the previous owner had done a few mods to it, lowered suspension, remapped ECU, some sort of racing clutch, big bore exhaust etc typical boy racer stuff. I didnt declare it to the insurers because for one thing I didnt have any of the...

    Tyre Slashing B*****ds

Unfortunately I have a bit of experience in this area, from when my car was broken into and every window smashed to bits, glovebox ripped off, stereo half hanging out from where they failed to nick it (but gouged the centre pannel to ****) ... The courts will only order them to pay compensation...

    Mot

Funny enough had mine done today too :) Flew through, only advisory being front NS tyre apparently worn close to legal limit... even though to my (admittedly untrained) eye, it had tonnes of tread left on it, looks like a brand new tyre! This is the first car Ive ever had thats gone through...
