    Bleeding Diesel

I've give up trying to start my engine for now as I have lots of new suspension and brake bits to put on first. When I have done that I will return to the Bleeding of the engine. I still do not know where the bleed screws are on the pump, so if anyone knows and would like to tell my that would...

    Burning Bush

Ah but I got the bushes out with a 25mm hole cutter drilled through the rubber easily. Mind the cough I now have might be down to the burning rubber and Waxoil mix, even tonight the garage still smells like an old brothel, well what I imagine an old brothel would smell like.

    Burning Bush

So I could replace the rear springs on my 88 I had to cut the bolts to the top shackles, which left the chassis bush useless so I had to get them out. Now the best way yes your all shouting the same thing burn the rubber center out then cut the outer sleeve with a hack saw then bend that in and...

    Spring hangers

I'm sure there was a good reason to thread the hangers but it makes it difficult to get the buggers out when the bolt seizes in the bush. Are the top bushes hard to replace, would it be easier to cut them out and then use new a mew bolt and bush ?.

    Spring hangers

I have been trying to get the rear springs off, but on the bolts rear hangers will not undo. I ended up cutting the bottom bolt off on one side but cant now get the the remains of the blot out of the hangers. So I thought OK just undo the top bolt and take each side of the hanger off and sort it...

Lets say you had 4 series Land Rovers...and

I took mine off in a day and that was the first time I had worked on a Series Landrover. After a short while I thought what the hell am I doing trying to undo all these rusted and seized bolts that was taking all my time up and costing me skin off my knuckles. So I reached for the angle...

    lpg Series 2

A modern LPG system would give you just about the same MPG as petrol, but the savings are made by LPG being less than half the price of petrol.

    Replacing rear crossmember.

With the Tub off I cut the old Xmember off with a 4" angle grinder and only went thru a couple of cutting discs which cost 50p each.

    Replacing rear crossmember.

I recently replaced my Series III rear cross member but I did it with the tub off that way it was easy to get off and easy the weld the new one back on. Taking the back tub off might seem like unnecessary time and effort but IMHO it will make the whole job easier.

    suspension

Just removed some coil spring helpers on my Series III as I have just bought some new leaf springs, I was wondering why they where there but I have just counted the leafs on the old ones and there was only seven, so thats why the coils where there as well don't know if if improved the ride or not.

    Dead Glow Plugs - help!

Sorry I am still confused as to where these bleed screws are, I don't think they are not shown on the down loadable manuals.

    Dead Glow Plugs - help!

Tried starting mine today with the pedal to the metal after a while it will start but then die after a couple of seconds as if there was lack of fuel. While cranking there is white smoke getting blown out of the back which I assume is unburnt diesel. So could it be possible that the diesel pump...

    Dead Glow Plugs - help!

Thats where I got mine as well. I have now drained the tank of the strange red/brown fuel, and filled it with £10 of Shell V power Diesel (V Power well there's always hope), I tried to start it but still no joy, later tomorrow I crack all the injector pipes to make sure clean fuel is getting...

    Dead Glow Plugs - help!

My next step is to drain and refill the tank as I am not sure what is in there but looking in with a torch it is either brown (rust) or red (illegal) or a mix of both.

    Rear UJ

When I have finished putting in all the effort in getting this SIII back on the road it will be regularly serviced after that, as looking at the state it is in now it has not been serviced for years which is all adding up as extra expense and time for me.
