57 plate Defender with running problems

Hi, I'm also in Wivey. I can recommend Andrew at CW Feltham in Kilve - he's pretty good on anything LR and won't rip you off. 01278 741372.

    Broken down after 19 days!

Under the terms of the Sale of Goods Act, the car should be of Merchantable Quality. Might be worth a call to Trading Standards to get some advice on how they would interpret this. Also worth finding out whether it's safe to drive it gently. You could of course, push it down the road and...

Leave them there -they add to the character. Mine has plenty!

    antifreeze

Don't use the stuff with OATS in older engines - it attacks the seals. There are threads on this on various forums.

    Young driver on defender 90

Bl***y H**l That's ridiculous. As suggested, try NFU and maybe ask around other guys doing similar work who they use.

    Young driver on defender 90

Hope you can get something. Insewerants is a rip off. It seemed bad when I was young - my first car cost me £30 to insure! (But I only earned 30/- a week on a paper round whilst I was still at school).

Sounds like it could be the head gasket. A garage should be able to test it easily.

    its that time of year

I've just put the biggest yellow-top Optima that I could get in mine a s the main battery + an uprated alternator. The second battery is an almost new 'ordinary' battery which I bought for a BMW 735i a week before the thing went to the scrapper. It's doing the job, but I'll replace it with...

    Defender Rad Grill Cover

Got an Exmoor Trim one on my 300 TDi. Certainly warms up quicker and doesn't overheat on a longer run. Also useful for wading.

    urgent help needed devon

I agree with he last two posts. When you think that £40 will have gone straight into Boy George's pocket, then less than £200 for an emergency repair on Christmas Eve - probably when they were looking forward to knocking off and going home - was not expensive. It wasn't a straightforward job...

Defender seats, how much to spend?

You can buy new seat bases from Exmoor Trim - or the kits to do the job yourself. I'm sure they will post them to you. Brilliant pic!

    drivers seat diaphram

thick ice freezing cold window scrappers out

I'm going to fit a heated screen and mirror to my Defender for next winter. Can't afford it now having just spent out on winter tyres, Optima yellow top battery, uprated alternator etc etc.
