Sounds like it could be the head gasket. A garage should be able to test it easily.

Got an Exmoor Trim one on my 300 TDi. Certainly warms up quicker and doesn't overheat on a longer run. Also useful for wading.

You can buy new seat bases from Exmoor Trim - or the kits to do the job yourself. I'm sure they will post them to you. Brilliant pic!

I'm going to fit a heated screen and mirror to my Defender for next winter. Can't afford it now having just spent out on winter tyres, Optima yellow top battery, uprated alternator etc etc.
