Line your battery box with polystyrene if yours is just suffering from the cold. Helps a lot. I used thick closed cell foam in my last landy and I can tell the difference this time around. It doesn't start instantly but seems a little sluggish from what I'm used to. I'm running a huge military truck battery though so it won't die anytime soon lol

good point, did not think of the cold affecting it,though it only just started this morning with glow plugs

Mine's had some difficulty starting too and its a fairly new battery. I'll give the insulation idea a try too.

It's worth doing and costs next to nothing. Get some polystyrene packing from some boxes and cut it to size

Top tip :)

I've just put the biggest yellow-top Optima that I could get in mine a s the main battery + an uprated alternator. The second battery is an almost new 'ordinary' battery which I bought for a BMW 735i a week before the thing went to the scrapper. It's doing the job, but I'll replace it with another yellow top when it gives up the ghost.
