    cant get my nob out

It just pulls off, it needs a good strong tug to get it off & it will release suddenly so watch it doesn't hit you in the face (mine did !!). According to Rave it should be in Park before pushing it back on otherwise damage to selector mechinism will result !!. Should be enough double meanings...

TD 4 Auto Very slow to change gear when cold

Quote from Rave "When the fluid is cold, the EAT ECU changes gear at higher engine speeds to promote faster fluid warm-up". So it's actually programmed to do it, I don't like the engine reving too high when it's cold so I do the same as Markyzs180 & use Command shift for the first few miles from...

    235/65/17 tyres

Just been & had a measure of my clearances, I've got 225/75/16's fitted so at 29.28" about the same dia as the ones you want to fit but 10mm narrower tread, I have 30mm wheel spacers fitted & guess what, as near as damn it I have 30mm clearance between the tread corner & the spring cup when...

    235/65/17 tyres

I agree with Singvogel, I don't think they will fit, thats 29" dia with a wider than standard tread width, I think they will foul your inner wings when on full lock & will be very close or possibly touching the spring cup on the strut, putting 30mm spacers on might help but then they would...

    Freelander td4 problem heeeeellllp!!!!!!!

Looks to me like it could be a high resistance joint somewhere between the ECU & the MAF sensor (or the ECU itself is faulty), the heater element in the MAF sensor needs to be fed with a constant current, it might be that the current is low which would give a false low MAF reading. For...

    Freelander td4 problem heeeeellllp!!!!!!!

Don't see how this can be related to fuel pressure because disconnecting the MAF sensor makes it run correctly. The fact that you have changed the MAF with no improvement when it is reconnected leads me to suspect the MAP sensor, take it out (only one screw holding it in) & give it a good clean...

    which size tryes..

Lift kit doesn't help much when fitting larger tyres to a Freebie, the limiting factor is the space between the bottom spring cup on the McPherson strut & the tyre, lifting it won't change this. I fitted some 205/80/16's which are narrower than the tyres you are talking about but roughly the...

Knowledge required - which to buy??

Go for a 2006 Freelander 1 TD4 Auto, HSE is the top spec, SE is the next one down but comes with cold climate pack ( Fuel burning heater, heated seats & heated front screen ), peferably with full LR service history.

Great news, thats me signing off just leaving for some laning in the frozen North !!:)

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

Have you tried disconnecting the MAF sensor, this will give you a fault code but the ECU uses a fallback strategy so power levels should return to relatively normal, it tends to overfuel a little bit so there could be a bit of smoke but it will eliminate the MAF as a possible cause. I think this...

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

Keep us posted because if your EGR valve is in the closed position & you have disconnected & capped the tube, if you are still having the same problem then it looks like the fault may be somewhere else.

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

Ha ha !, yes it was quite bad :o, had about 80,000 miles on & I don't think it was ever cleaned. Saw some improvement after fitting the bypass, it picked up better from low revs but didn't see much of an improvement at the top end.

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

Heres a pic of my old one in the partially open position (a bit out of focus !) & the second pic in fully closed position. The spring is quite strong so needs a good shove to open it.

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

That's in the fully closed position & in the grand scheme of things is pretty clean, I just checked the one I removed from mine a few months ago & it is much more crudded up than yours but still moves freely against the spring pressure, I'm wondering if the problem might be the solenoid that...

    Tyres loosing air orf road?

Could it be that whoever inflated them last had a faulty gauge, it has to be something that affects them all equally, if you check the spare & it is low also then it rules out offroad activity.
