Is it an expensive job, not something that could be done diy or is it worth replacing the box

Well guys I purchased a nanocom and the fault on the gearbox coming up is solenoid power fault.

I'm after a used one but like you say they're like rock in horse ****, saw a hawkeye for sale but I've heard they're not as good

Was looking at them but 500 quid new is a tad expensive and theres nobody near me in leeds with one

I'll see if I can source a code reader and see what I find

My main bugbear is the gearbox issue or what I think is the gearbox issue, its undrivable as it is

Like I say it's on and off I'd probably guess every one in 10 turns of the key I get no electrics

No smell of burning at all, seems to be in good order

Nothing at all comes on as if theres no battery

My rangie does this on and off but seems to do it every time i start it up now. When i try to start it sometimes i have no electrics at all as if the battery isnt connected, this usually corrects its self by waiting 5 minutes and trying to turn the key again, if i do manage to get it started...

Due to my FIP blowing up, my 2.5 is left with bore wash and it's looking like a replacement engine. If I do an engine swap for a higher milage engine will this effect the odometer reading or am I right in saying it will only adopt a higher milage if you change the becm or instrument cluster?

Would this only be shown on the rev counter because there doesnt seem to be and change of revs for the engine.

No alternator fault it seems like a leccy issue but its just the rev counter that plays up

Becm is bone dry

I also noticed randomly the revs on the counter would drop to zero while driving around

I wonder if it jumped a tooth and that's what caused it to go bang, it was making a tapping noise for a week or so, smoking more than usual and was a pig to start, the tapping noise started on the same day I found out one of the power steering hoses that come out the reservoir had been sitting...

Good point I'll get one done in case but my mechanic has Inspected the top of the engine and it looks good
