    Defender 90 Side Bars suggestions

Aren't the sills just bolted on with about 4 L brackets? Mine were at least, I had the two part sills. Have you had a look at yours? I've heard people say theirs are riveted on so even easier to remove by drilling the rivets out rather than fighting old rusty bolts like I did. You can always...

Springs for 110. Your opinion needed.

I have the medium duty Terrafirma set on my 90 and that's a pretty harsh ride but has very little body roll which is why I went for them. I got used to the ride. Sort of wish I went for the light duty ones though.

    Timing belt 200 tdi

I stuck with genuine personally because it's a lot to risk for the sake of a few quid. Not to say the Dayco one's aren't any good but I'd rather error on the side of caution.

    quick question?

I have a 1987 Ninety 200tdi conversion, I can push it up to 70 if needed but it's happier sitting at 50/55. Before the 1.22 transfer box I wouldn't dare take it above 50 for fear of killing the engine.

I seem to have no brakelights!

Check fuse behind fusebox cover in the centre above gearbox tunnel, check that it's not blowing fuses as soon as you hit the brakes and the correct rating fuse is used, as above check for voltage at the bulb holder contacts, could be the brake light switch might just need adjusting...

How to measure suspension lift ?

I would say measure between centre of axle hub and wheel arch and compare that to a landy with standard height springs. Maybe someone will be nice enough to measure theirs for you to compare? Mine's lifted otherwise I would

    Replacement fuel tank 300tdi 90

I had trouble with my replacement fouling on the underside of the seatbox where it runs under the door. I smeared a bit of grease on that part and it went straight in. Bit of a knack to it

    Bloody squeak !

I had similar on my 90 recently, turned out it was a worn UJ on the front prop. Check yours for wear by turning the prop by hand. While connected up mine only had 1-2mm of travel but when I got it off it was well knackered

    Gauge wiring issues

If the fuel gauges goes straight to full then it's not earthed properly - get a long bit of wire and earth the gauge straight to the battery or chassis and look at the gauge to see if it goes back to normal reading

Changing Transfer box to a Disco one

I have a recon lt230 1:2 and recon lt77 in my 90 from Ashcrofts. On the old 1:4 transfer box I'd be revving the nuts off the engine at 45mph in 5th  Since the 1:2 I can sit at 50/55mph in 5th at comfortable revs and a lot less cabin noise :D I've had it up to 70mph a few times to...
