Bell's are £200 + postage ( not sure what they charge ? ) with no bearings fitted . The bearings are probably cheap one's The place is local to me ( about 10 miles away )

Never heard of an auto stalling before , Must have been really tight on full lock :eek: Mine @75k is slightly tight but will go round in circles on full lock at idle with ease , Would this indicate a VCU still in good working order ?

This is how it should work , Holding the gear at higher rpm so it warms the gearbox & engine quicker .

You don't need to use the handbrake on the auto if in park . They do rust on in this wet weather .

On my 2000 td4 the original pump was leaking & bearings were rough , It had a black plastic impeller . Looking on ebay most of the pattern water pumps have a metel impeller ?

The plastic case can be cleaned/washed but the furry filter should be replaced every 12,000 miles , There is also a bmw plastic vortex filter that replaces that part and this won't need replacing again . BMW part number 11127799367 oil separator ;)

I had the bmw one fitted with metel impeller not plastic like original . Yes you should fit a new thermostat while it's out ( would be silly not to ) By all accounts it's a pig of a job to get at & that's why I had it done by someone that works on BMW's , It still cost a bit :(

Crankcase filter should be replace as you can't clean it ( unless it's the BMW plastic part ) ?

2000 TD4 75,000 miles . Cold VCU 9 degrees C ( would like to repeat in summer when double that temp) 1.2 m bar with 5kg @45 degrees to level with sill took 38 seconds . 6kg took 29 seconds .
