    Electric Lift Pump Advice

Yep, Facet pumps tend to be multi fuel.mi am gong to go for a solid state pump. The one thing I can't grasp is that the claim to have no moving parts. Surely there is a diaphragm inside?

    Electric Lift Pump Advice

Delphi are known for manufacturing quality components so it has come as a bit of a surprise to me (obviously less of a surprise now that I'm on my 7th / 8th one!). It cant just be bad luck, two have sheared the diaphragm pin from the priming arm that rides on the cam, two have leaked diesel into...

    Electric Lift Pump Advice

Hello, My 200tdi has done it's 7th lift pump within two years (each of which have been Delphi), so I am now going to go down the electric lift pump route. This time, instead of the diaphragm ****ing diesel into the block or the priming arm shearing from the pin, it is pumping diesel out of the...

Damaged bore and skew gear question

Jesus your injector must have been ****ing diesel - did you notice any knocking or engine oil dilution? James Martin's advice is always very well taken but it might just save you a hell of a lot of money to have the bores measured before you shell out for a complete rebore at a machine shop. Do...

    Dillers 4x4 leeds

It might have been a bit extra but you really need to understand how they work. Jake Wright's are a Land Rover Specialists - they're enthusiasts just like you and I, Diller's simply buy and sell. That extra couple of thousand would have certainly been poured into the motor, not just slapped on...

Indeed they are :D Anyway, that only really leaves a few more possibilities for my problem now: 1) Timing out a tooth on cam 2) Tensioner / Idler problem such as collapsed / worn bearing 3) Worn cam / crank sprocket keyway(s) 4) Broken / worn woodruff keys. If it's none of the above then feck...

It would appear I have no need to worry about this. If you take a look at the retaining bolt in this photo (image linked from White 90 / Les's guide over at lr4x4 technical archive Reassembling 300TDI cam followers - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum) You can see that the chamfered edge is mainly...

Alright. It's not loose, it tightened right up but the chamfered edge on the bolt in question was a little worn as if it had had been hit by the old follower assembly in the past. It didn't look bad enough to worry about / replace. -Tom

Okay, but what stops the entire guide from moving up and down slightly if the bolt isn't nipped right up? -Tom

Another update for you. I got the engine all back together on Friday night and fired it up on Saturday morning. It started straight away and there are no horrible rattles etc. I have since covered about 150 miles. It has used no oil, there is no blow-by and it seems to be pulling really well...

Ahh good. I didn't think it was possible for that bolt to hydraulic. Am I right in believing that it is the oil way / supply to the rocker shaft area? It's the one and only bolt hole at the front of the engine that is always full of oil, so I presume there is an oil way somewhere toward the...

Thank you. What is the worst case scenario? Once the engine is hot and it has been run for a few hours, should the oil bake / burn away or will it continually retain it's "moisture"?

Not far off having it all back together now, just a few hours a night in the ****ing down, windy cold is making it a slow and arduous task. Anyway, I have run into a potential problem and I need some advice. The 200tdi has an oil way that runs up past one of the front most head bolts out into...

Right, ive got myself a nice cross hatching in all four bores now. All the bits that I need to get the engine back together are here, the only piece left being a running-in oil. Any suggestions? I know Millers do one. I was also thinking along the lines of a really cheap and nasty super market...

Alright. One last question for you sir. If I repeat the process again tomorrow and get a good cross hatching, am I likely to have taken away enough metal to cause problems? I will be fitting standard size rings to standard sized pistons. Ta, -Tom

Ohhh bollocks :( So all i need to do is give it a very light cross hatching on top of what I have done and it should be alright?
