    New Pads On 2001 Td5

Well if you bleed them it stops the reservoir overflowing when you push the pads back in. I don't bother with all those tubes and bleed kits, just open the bleed nipples and let a bit of fluid out. Seems to work ok on Defenders and Discos. Squirt with a hose afterwards.

    changing gearbox / diff oil

If you look at the date on that tech bulletin, it is true that at that time they were making TD5s. But the bulletin also advises use in older gearboxes. After all it is the gearbox we are talking about here. I also think that there was an earlier tech bulletin of 1998 (note the one above is...

Seriously annoyed.. who wants a 110

We have a so-called 'roadworthy' test here, but it is only needed on change of ownership if a vehicle is 3+ years old. I bought my 110 11 years ago when it was one year old so it has never been tested. It would pass, not like some of the junk on the roads here. My Audi 100 is now twenty...

    200tdi/300tdi,whats the difference?

None really. It's a bit noisier than the 300tdi and more difficult to work on eg. cambelt change is easier on a 300tdi because fewer bits have to come off. Depending on where you are it may be easier to get parts for the later engine. Few 200tdi's were sold here in SA as against lots of 300s.

    Turbo + Oil problems

It does help if you say what engine you are talking about, though some forum members can read minds..... If it's a 200 or 300tdi you want to 'turn the pump up' on, go to the technical archive in the Landroveraddict forum. I helped to write the thread years ago. And my engine is still going fine.

    New Pads On 2001 Td5

Easy peasy. Jack up car, take off wheel, put on axle stand, remove split pins, push pads back in with screwdriver, remove old pads, fit new pads, replace split pins and wheel. Takes about 5 mins a side. Preferably use a syringe to take out a bit of brake fluid from the reservoir before you...

    Smokey 200tdi

For that to happen suddenly to a engine which is running fine.... Hmmmm It can't be sudden low compression. Maybe one injector is faulty? Run the engine and undo each injector nut. It's a bit messy, but if you undo one injector and it doesn't make much difference that one could be at fault...

    Radio Ga Ga !!!!! Help.

You could always use LR tool #1 if the noise gets too much :D

    My Engine is Possessed

Sorry can't help cos I don't know how the TD glow circuit works, but it does sound as if they are on with the 'ignition' on. Though how do they switch off then?

    Smokey 200tdi

Low compression I would reckon. This causes the diesel to fire 'late', rather like retarded ignition. You will need to beg or borrow a diesel compression tester, one which uses the glow plug holes. I don't know about the 200tdi, but the 300tdi should give 24 bar when new. 20 is ok, but less...

Exhaust Backfire - Advice needed please

If it backfires on the overrun it normally means you have an air leak somewhere so check they fitted the box properly with exhaust goo.

    axle oil leak

Its a bit strange. If the shafts are welded there is no need for the plastic cap, but maybe it is just a tack weld to stop the shaft coming out as mine did.

    My Engine is Possessed

Adz, the funny thing is you are using the glows whether you like it or not :p Ignore the glow plug light because that lies. Switch on the ignition in a quiet place, watch the light go out and wait. After a few seconds depending on the temperature you will hear a click from a relay. That is...

    Fed Up

It looks as if you didn't fit the rear main seal correctly. That's the only place the oil can come from out of the wader plug. Sorry about that. The fuel pump you will have to change. Power steering can be a problem, we normally fit new stuff as the recon kits don't work. Expensive...

    Rostyle steel wheels...

I thought you could get them in the UK for about 30 squid. Haven't been reading the ads in the mags lately ;)

    axle oil leak

You can weld the half shafts to the drive members, I have welded shafts on my 110 and it is common here in South Africa as there is then one less place to have play in the transmission and you save on replacement items. BUT the welding must be done with a TIG (not MIG or stick) welder, and only...

    Rostyle steel wheels...

Ok, better to have 6.5" wheels for 235s, but I see lots of Defenders with 235s fitted to the original 5.5" steel wheels. Why not get Wolf rims, or are they much more expensive than 8-spokes? They are certainly extremely strong and look much better.
