    Wet Carpet and heater matrix

Although this is a td5 not a 300 I think you might be right about the pipe coming throught the baulkhead. thats where the sound deadening is wet, looks like it doesn't stay there long enought o soak through the carpet but runs down then lays in the footwell and thats where the carpet gets wet.

    Failed MoT help

Another very useful tool for cleaning rusty stuff is a belt sander, my brother has a Black and Decker one, it gets in very akward pleace where you wouldn't get a grinder.

    Rear crossmember replacement

Those rear body mounts are in good condition. I have used 120 x 60 x 3mm wall thickness 1400 long then cut the length to fit. Spot weld drills are very usefull. Cut round the body mounts and pillar joints but its almost impossible to remove all the layers of metal (unless its rotted away) here...

    Wet Carpet and heater matrix

When I wrung out the sound deadening it was bright green so I'm almost sure its the heater but I cant see any drips or sign of leaks, I'll take more stuff out tomorrow to see if I can get a better look. Kev

    Wet Carpet and heater matrix

Morning all, I just picked up a 1999 td5 and amongst other minor problems  its got a wet drivers side carpet, no air con, no sunroofs, no roof bars, so I'm thinking screen , door seals, or possibly heater matrix, but would that be on the drivers side?

    Undiscovered rust area

Has anyone come acoss this area of rot before?? I can only think this must have been reversed through seawater to manage to get this bit rotten as its nomally tucked behind the bumper out of harms way. Of course it could have been a Land Rover Corrosion Development department factory experement...

    alternator rebuild 200tdi

Hi All I have a noisy bearing in the alternator on my 200tdi Disco, its still putting out 14.2 volts, so I don't really want to change the whole thing. Can anyone recommend a supplier for a repair kit? or will factors like Motex, Euro-wrong-Parts etc be route to go. Cheers Kev

    Kitting myself out

MIG gets my vote. an auto darkening mask, a 115mm angle grinder with 1mm slitting discs and grinding discs or flap wheels and proper gloves/gauntlets. Good luck
