    snorkel installation

I've had another go at my 200 tdi 90 snorkel, I've put a coke bottle lid into the drain thingy and siliconed it in too, I've taken the pipes off the filter and blocking the pipe to the inlet to the turbo stalls the motor, once connected back to the air filter it collapses the pipe but the motor...

    I have leaky freestyle alloys!

A bit of corrosion around the rims is often the culprit when they go down over a number of weeks. It's unlikely that you will see bubbles as there is no weight on the tyre deforming the tyre sidewall slightly. I have had the same thing and taking the tyre off, cleaning the bead seat on the rim...

    front diff pinion bearing gone?

Almost certainly the bearing has failed, don't drive it like that as it'll lunch the diff. There is a slim chance that the nut on the end of the shaft (hidden by the prop) has come loose but that is only a very slim to no chance.

    help me its a filter

Get your chain right down at the base of the filter near the thread end and don't worry about it crumpling a bit, just give it some welly and it should come off. I've had one stuck badly on a series 3 as it hadn't been touched for years. It shifted in the end but the filter was pretty mangled by...

thanks, I didn't, I'll seal it up and have another try.

    2.5TD cutting out

It's the thing with the wire coming off at the top of the pump and it looks a bit like a temperature sender.

    isuzu 3.1 in a 110 ?

That 3.1 Isuzu motor is a cracking engine, they do monster mileages if well cared for and concerns over parts costs are not too much to worry about as you won't often need them. The main problem is converting everything, If you can find everything you need. It's a lot of work.

    snorkel installation

I tried the bag trick and it sucked the bag tight around it but the motor carried on ticking over like normal. I think I might take all my pipe joints apart and silicone everything

    Electric or hydrolic winch?

As widget says if it makes the right pressure it will give you the same pull. What I found with my one was that pressure = pull and flow rate = speed. You might get the same pull but at a painfully slow speed when at low load if the pump doesn't flow enough. Ideally you want a high flow rate to...

Alternator is rubber ducked and it will be killing your battery.

    Building your own Defender

You might get all the big bits for sensible prices but all the odds and sods will mount up to loads of dosh, as the others have said, cheaper to rebuild one. If you bought a half decent one and stripped it completely you could build it back up just how you want it.

    Electric or hydrolic winch?

I've had both an electric and hydraulic winch in the past. If you put the cost to one side I found that the two had different strengths. The electric winch, an X9 was faster and was excellent for most situations and never let me down. I used two batteries linked together to ensure plenty of...

    waterproof v8

I used to run a V8 bobtail rangie and that would drop a cylinder as you approached any water and you'd be lucky to still have 4 running on the way out, I tried allsorts to waterproof it and in the end bought a diesel 90. I love the sound of the V8 but with the disi on the front of the motor...

    snorkel installation

Your turbo pipework looked a bit past its' best in the pictures, it might be worth getting a set of silicone hoses. I changed mine as I could see the pipes swelling as I rev'd the motor so they can't have been long to go before a split appears. I too have fitted a snorkel but haven't done the...

    200tdi h power deferance

That's the guide that I used to good effect. I fitted a boost gauge so that I could make sure that I didn't overdo anything. The first thing that I found was that my motor was below standard on boost making below 0.6 bar and struggling to work up to that. I replaced all my pipes between the...

    Oil on Glow Plugs

That would be duff glow plugs then! If you have a multimeter you can measure continuity through the glow plug, you should get a reading around 1.5 ohms between the conector on the end and the body of the glowplug, if it is open circuit, like a blown fuse, the plug wont get hot and it will oil...

    200tdi h power deferance

This difference is mainly due to the different manifold designs I believe. As POS says, setting up the pump and boost will yield quite a bit more performance. I fitted a boost gauge so that I could set up the turbo and adjusted the fueling to match and it made quite a difference

    Heater Plugs?

If you haven't done them, replace the leak off pipes regardless of what they look like, it'll cost all of about a fiver for enough new pipe to do them, I used to have one of these and when I did mine they virtually disintegrated when I was pulling them off, the outer covering disguises the...

    just picked my 2.5DHSE up!!!!

I used to have one and it was an auto. It was soooo slow to begin with. I fitted a spider tuning box which gives about 150bhp and decent MPG, around 26mpg over all. Do bear in mind that the fuel computer will give a false reading once a box has been fitted as it determines consumption with a...
