How long till it goes flat???, TD4 2004

Would not turn over but did seem to want to try , very dim dash lights etc, classic flat battery, and it did start with a jump so no imobiliser issue .Will have a play with it this morning to check voltage drop etc......the battery looks "newish" although I cant` see a date sticker on it...the...

How long till it goes flat???, TD4 2004

Fair do`s, but after the ten mile drive back after I jump started it , got home and left it for a couple of hours I have a green "magic eye" and showing 12.7v at rest. This makes me think the battery is fine. I know that some cars, eg Jaguars are power hungry and put a large drain on the...

How long till it goes flat???, TD4 2004

:blabla:Assuming a healthy battery, you know - green ball and and healthy voltage, how long would it take till the battery goes so flat the car will not turn over??. Reason I ask is I noticed the the Mrs tends to turn the key straight to start, this morning I suggested she might say turn the key...

    Freelander Roof Racks

I wondered about this till I had to put the roof box on and found that the aerial just sat nicely under the front bar, no rattles or vibration and no loss of signal...just lucky maybees...

    fuel pump

Had this exact thing myself very recently, new under arch pump and filter from local LR (independent) specialist and all seems well now. In fact I would say that it has better performance now suggesting to me that the pump had been gradually failing for a while. The pump that came from the...

Turning the key several times to start TD4

I recently had this in the wifes 2004 facelift Td4, It turned out to be the (wheelarch) low pressure pump. I had to resort to the "bash it" method by thumping the wheelarch liner with a rubber mallet in the vicinity of the pump to get it going. It must have been gradually failing over a period of...

    Won't start?

:blabla:I agree (I think) if not enough fuel is being delivered to the injection pump from the LP pump the babysitter (fuel pressure sensor ) will kick off and go in to a huff and refuse to let the car start, sooooo, it could still be a fooked or lazy low pressure pump then...

    Won't start?

Re: the DTC diagnostics stuff. Most "faults" that might affect running or starting might not show up on the OBD& OBDII toys that most of us have. As far as I can tell only the issues that could affect emissions will will show up on a generic tool. Already having VAGCOM/VCDS,Vauxcheck and others...

    Won't start?

:blabla:Just a guess from an amateur but low pressure fuel pump on its way out maybe??. In a no start situation "key on" but dont crank, you should hear the pump working from the drivers seat(switch radio and wife off so you can hear better) - its a sort of buzz or hum - if you dont hear it then...

    missing air temp sensor....

:blabla:Have decided to go the oe sensor route. If I fit a switch, which is what I would do for myself if I was the regular user of this car, my dizzy blonde Mrs would no doubt switch it on now and I would find it still running next July during which time she would no doubt complain that the...

    missing air temp sensor....

2004 freelander 2.0Tdi HSE. Bought as a distress purchase (ie heavy snow) last winter for the wife I always thought that the cabin was colder than it should be. Having ascertained that there is a FBH fitted (I can see the little exhaust pipe in front of the wheel and it was also listed on the...

    Driving licences

This is just another way of wringing more cash out of drivers, my two lads 20 & 21 both passed their test first time shortly after their 17th birthdays, neither have yet had an accident or made a claim. Always been fully comp too, I hate to think how much cash has been handed over. Both are...

    Folding mirror problem

You might be lucky in that you have "fixed" it inadvertently when you had it apart and reassembled it with eveything in its correct place. The locating pins referred to are in the motor body and locate in to the plastic motor base. There are two of these pins and they can only be seen with the...

towbar step, bumper protector and park sensors.

Pics as requested. The Freelander is not really tall enough to need a step for reaching in to the back or washing it or whatever but I wanted it for reaching in to the roofbox when it is on without having to stand on the car. The step came came in a galvanised gold colour but a couple of coats...
