hi my 2004 td4 wouldnt start this morning after a 2 or three thumps on the under arch fuel pump it started, been ok all day, only done 65000 miles so is this the expected life of the pump?also are the aftermarket pumps worth buying or stick to origanal?
My 2005 TD4 had the fuel pump fail when it was 4 years old and about 40k, I made the mistake of fitting an aftermarket one at first and is was way to noisy and failed after 8 months! now replaced with an OEM one

Had this exact thing myself very recently, new under arch pump and filter from local LR (independent) specialist and all seems well now. In fact I would say that it has better performance now suggesting to me that the pump had been gradually failing for a while. The pump that came from the specialist did not have the LR logo but " Its the one we always use" I was told, cant remember the brand however.
