    Not so hot heater

Back flushed heater matrix and I think the block although there are some discrepancies between the Rave disk and what is under my bonnet. Refilled with 50% antifreeze mix and tested for leaks. Temperature seemed to stabilise at a slightly lower temperature but ran out of time to do a full test...

    Not so hot heater

Obviously in the recent weather a warm car is useful, just sure about mine so what are they normally like? The engine temp indicator rises as normal from cold but the cabin takes ages to warm up (heated seats are a godsend). It does demist the screen but takes ages to get to the top...

So the Freelander tranmission is C##p, or is it???

Hear hear to the praise of the Freelander. Now the snow has mostly cleared around here I can safely say I have been far happier in my FL1 in these conditions that I would have thought possible. If I have a criticism it is that it has been too good. Its abilities to progress through without fuss...

    towing downhill?

Too many years ago (god I feel friggin old) had a company Montego which died after only 1.5k (cam pulley came off and broke the camshaft in 3). Waited for 2 hours for the AA man. Finally came and decided to tow me back to garage. Rope tow and no engine so no brake servo. Came off the A12 at Gun...

    M.O.T fail - continued use?

As has been pointed out all the MOT says is that the vehicle was roadworthy in the eyes of the law at the time of the test. If you are subsequently stopped and a defect is identified then the offence is to have a vehicle on the road in an unroadworthy state. By failing an MOT irrespective of the...

Who's got it, and how much have you got!!!

About 4-5" in Colchester, a bit more at work in Ipswich About 20mph most of the way on the A137 (some silly sod got it wrong on the A12). Half way up some silly bint in a Golf pulled out and was sat at 5-10mph until we could pass her:mad:

    Freelander Tyre Pressure

Removing trim, seats etc. will make little difference to the overall weight of the vehicle enough to justify reducing the pressure. It is more likely that you would need to raise the pressure with heavy loads. All tyres would have an ideal footprint for the road surface but few manufacturers...

    Freelander Tyre Pressure

According to the Dunlop site your vehicle with that size of tyre should be 29psi (2.0bar)

Not a good week in Lil-landies world...

Not exactly sure about this but just passing on the thought. The loss of no claims bonus is tied to if the damage is your own fault which in this case it is not. I think some insurance companies (might only be with fully comp) take the line that they will pay for the repairs to get you back on...

changing the starter motor - what did I do wrong?

The over pull spring which allows the motor to start when the gear is not fully engaged means that the soleniod armature is not solidly fixed to the rocking lever that pushes the gear out. This can separate and sounds like your problem.

    tow rope / recovery strop

I generally prefer strops but do they make pulley blocks to work with a strop i.e flat wheel with fences rather than grooved?

    Bottle Jacks

Worked with a bloke, right pain in the rear he was cos would not do anything not compliant with H&S, anything over 25Kg had to have a crane etc. One day no show, on second day still no show and we were all called into crew room. Was told he would not be back as he was killed working under his...

Not a good week in Lil-landies world...

Insurance may query what has caused the later faults so needs to be identified (?battery, alternator) then stuff them for the lot. Get it done proper cos you wern't expecting the money so might as well have the 100% job as its a nice feeling knowing its all good when done! No loss to you unless...

changing the starter motor - what did I do wrong?

Your assumption is correct, this type of starter motor is known as pre-engage in that the drive gear should be pushed onto the starter ring by the solenoid before a pair of contacts operated by the full travel of the soleniod put power on the motor. One variation between starters is the...

    Tuning Boxes

My insurance with Admiral, still waiting for a reply so I think the idea has blown their minds a bit! Didn't help that the numpty on the call desk patently knew nothing about cars and couldn't comprehend retuning a car electronically.

Need to tow a trailer next year which is fairly close to the limit of the freebie. Some of the caravan forums mention that a tuning box makes all the difference. Reading around I like the look of the Synergy2 especially as I a suspicious about the MAF anyway, what have others found with this...

    rear heater problem

After the tag has dried put another coat of paint over the top covering the tag an the surrounding contact area. Let this dry before applying the Araldite. In this weather the glue may not go off properly if it is too cold or humid. I have also seen this done before but with a short lead...

Xi Millenium Edt BP9263 Wiring Diagram?

It may be specific to this model but as far as I am aware Blaupunkt only ever used the DIN standard connectors. These are two separate plugs, one grey and one tan coloured with two rows of four pins in each. The locking clip was in a different position on each so they could not be fitted...
