    300 tdi discovery 20MPG :/ HELP!!!

Two reasons for using lots of fuel apart from the 2 inch lift and the big tyres, would be a bad leak which you would see and smell or it's burning to much fuel which would give you lots of black smoke, simple as that. Adjust the maximum fuel/power screw and reduce the smoke and also improve...

    Clutch or Gearbox....?

Could be the release bearing, that would make a squealing noise and also put an extra load on the engine when the pedals fully depressed slowing the engines rpm down.

300TDi Clutch Replacement Tips for DIY?

Yes you can do it with a basic tool kit and no special tools apart from the tool to line up the clutch plate. A wheeled jack for under the gear box, no engine crane needed. You will find removing the transfer box from the gear box makes the process lighter and safer.

    no drive discovery manual box

I had the same problem when my front diff fell apart. Unlock the centre diff and put it in gear and then get out and look under the car. vibration and squeak

It could be that one of the universal joints has not been kept lubricated properly and has become contaminated with water causing it to rust. I had a uj that become rusted and it distroyed its self in a very short time. If the transfer box is full of oil then even worn bearings wont squeak.

Main shaft and transfer gear if there's lots of slack in the transmision when coming on and off the power. Go to Ashcrofts web site and it tells you how to check.

    Gearbox lumpy and clunky

Lets face it the r380 and lt77 are a strong box, but have never been a nice gearbox to use. Crappy gear change and a weak 2 gear synchro, A secondhand transfer and gearbox for £120 or £500 at a guess for a recon gearbox plus the same again for the transfer box

    Gearbox lumpy and clunky

Keep looking on ebay for the gearbox and transfer box, then go and check the splines and gear. I paid about £120 for both in good order. The other option involves spending lots of money. I did fit a new main shaft to a lt77 box once, but not an option I would choose now.

    Gearbox lumpy and clunky

I have just lived with it, but have a ebay s/h gear box with transfer box which has good splines and gear waiting to fit when the box brakes. So far the thing keeps going and Ive been all over the place pulling a large 16 ft trailer. The front diff fell apart the other week and I removed the...

    Gearbox lumpy and clunky

Mines the same, it has a very badly worn main shaft and gear. This adds a huge amount of slack in the drive train making smooth gear changes a art form ,I would never let any one else drive it as I'm sure they would wreck the gear box. :welcome2:

One micron and filtered it to death Clean new oil will have the same results, its not whats in the oil ie contaminants but the way oil is design to be a lubricant and cling to surfaces under high pressures and also it has a high flash point.
