Footwell / Bulkhead Corrosion - Opinions, Please!

Yes, I think mine will always leak, although it's not too bad. Definitely something to monitor to avoid a recurrence of rust. I have transmission tunnel and under bonnet sound proofing that is the standard LR stuff. I will reinstate that and take a view on the footwells themselves once the...

Good advice. I'll certainly monitor things closely from now on!

Footwell / Bulkhead Corrosion - Opinions, Please!

Thanks for that. I'm in two minds about putting the sound proofing back in as I think I prefer noise to rust!

Footwell / Bulkhead Corrosion - Opinions, Please!

It's booked in for a timing belt change very soon, so I phoned the garage to discuss looking at this issue while they've got the car. They're a great independent Land Rover specialist whom I trust due to several recommendations from fellow Landy drivers, so I'll see what they say and take it...

Footwell / Bulkhead Corrosion - Opinions, Please!

New footwells sounds sensible. They're not expensive. Did you buy from YRM? Did you paint them afterwards?

The passenger side appears to be double skinned, or a least it feels like that when you poke around.

Footwell / Bulkhead Corrosion - Opinions, Please!

Yes, it doesn't seem too bad and I'm hoping to get away with patches etc. The truck had the original sound deadening fitted, which had retained moisture, such that the rot appears to be from the inside out. Once it's patched up, how to I go about making it good? It doesn't need to be green...

Footwell / Bulkhead Corrosion - Opinions, Please!

Afternoon, All. Here are some photos of the corrosion I recently discovered in my footwell / bulkhead areas on my 90. I wondered what people think about how severe it is and how to proceed. The apparent rust at the upper edge of the driver's footwell is, in fact, degradation of the paint due...

Wanted County Window Surrounds for a 90

Closed cell foam ordered for the Sound Deadening Shop. Can't wait to fit it all up. Thank you to everyone for your input on this thread.

Good point. I'll definitely use closed cell, in that case.

Wanted County Window Surrounds for a 90

Great. Thanks, as ever. I'm looking forward to a potentially slightly quieter and warmer car, although at the moment all the bulkhead and footwell sound prooofing and matting is out ahead of curing the rust worm that appears to have been living in that vicinity, so the truck is not exactly quiet!

Wanted County Window Surrounds for a 90

I've found some! Next question: can I fit sound deadening insulation type stuff behind them?

    Paint colour 90 1986 green.

It could be Coniston Green, as per my avatar.

I've found some belonging to a guy who's breaking a 90 CSW, but he wants to sell them as a set with the county rear seats and won't split. Bother...

That would certainly be the most cost effective option as I already have good parts.

    Clutch Assist Spring Question

Thank you for the helpful replies. Looks like I'll be posting a wanted ad! Annoyingly, I already have another pedal box, but that one is the same as the one on the car. My idea was to strip and paint the spare one, fit a new master cylinder, then do a straight swap. That was, until I got the...
