Afternoon, All.

I am about to replace the clutch master cylinder on my 200Tdi 90 and will remove the pedal box to do so. I'm thinking of fitting a clutch assist spring while it's out, but am not sure if this will fit as everything seems to refer to 300Tdi and later. It looks like the pedal needs two lugs with eyes on either side to receive the spring ends, whereas my pedal simply has one one centrally mounted eye for the conventional spring.

What do you think?

If not , then if you read some of those replies, they mention just changing the whole pedal unit. Which I understand can actually be got for a little more than the assist spring kit.

I have done this mod to the assist spring about 3 years ago and it does make a heck of a difference, well worth doing if you are driving in town a lot.

OK, looks like the price has risen, now for the complete pedal kit you are looking at approx £115.

But they also sell the kit itself. Look at the ad further down.

Maybe you can get one from a breakers.

Thank you for the helpful replies. Looks like I'll be posting a wanted ad! Annoyingly, I already have another pedal box, but that one is the same as the one on the car. My idea was to strip and paint the spare one, fit a new master cylinder, then do a straight swap. That was, until I got the spring idea into my head!

There are 2nd hand pedal boxes on bay of flea, starting at about £25 .
Factor in the cost of the spring kit and that makes them really cheap.

I would look at contacting the suppliers and asking them directly if it will fit, one or two of them are LR specialists so should know exactly what you mean. That way you take the guesswork out of it.

That would certainly be the most cost effective option as I already have good parts.
